This is literally Melee but at the same time nothing like it.
By far the best Melee game available on PC.

This Game's Maker surely had a lot of clever ideas in his Toolkit. Mark my words in Brown ink, this is only the beginning.
Here's to plenty more years of teaching people how to appreciate good game design and hopefully more and bigger banger games!

First of all I want to mention that I'm making this review only because games like this get very often a lot of negative reviews either from people who are bad at games or from older fans that say everything has fallen off just by looking at the trailer.

That being said, it has been so long since we had a proper Super Meat Boy game since, you know, Super Meat Boy. This game does everything its older brother did and then some. The difficulty curve starts from barely challenging and can reach to nearly impossible and still there's no point where the difficulty increase is too much compared to the level before. In addition, although extremely challenging at some points, not only it's never unfair but also helps you by letting you see and study your route on every level before starting the attempt since they're all single-screens. Every time you die, most of the time it's gonna be your fault and if it's not, in all the next attempts of the same level it will.

As you probably understand so far, this game can get stupidly hard so it's aimed towards people who really want to challenge themselves and that's why it has absolutely zero focus on providing any kind of meaningful story or deep lore so don't expect your life to be changed when you finish it. Not only that, it takes this fact a step further and doesn't even care about people who want to 100% complete it by making it unbelievably excruciating to do so, literally mocking people who actually do it and making sure it lets them know how pointless the whole thing is besides being a challenge. So don't be salty when you finish Nevermore and Ash talks about his toenails on the final cutscene. You have been warned.

The last thing that needs to be said is that the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. One could argue that having just covers from classical music for the whole soundtrack isn't really creative, but the work they did is really spectacular and it instantly became one of my favorite soundtracks of all time (and this comes from a guy who almost exclusively listens to OST's). Seriously, another fat W for Ridiculon.

All in all, if you liked Super Meat Boy then play this with no second thought; It is as good if not better.
9/10 would end the world again.

When Banjo-Kazooie isn't working, there's always Donkey Kong Country.

Came for the godlike roguelike action.
Stayed for the relationship simulator.

Did you love Crypt of the Necrodancer and you want to try something 10 times simpler and 100 times more trippy? Then this is exactly the game you're looking for.

Took me 3 hours to 100%.
Will take me a lifetime to stop striding on imaginary beats in real life.
