This game has not aged well.

Graphics look outright bad and it doesn't even run well on modern hardware; there's stuttering and loading times are painfully long.

Gunplay feels dated and the extremely limited sensitivity options don't help (lowest sens is still too high for me; I like ~30cm/360 at 800DPI).
The platforming sections are atrocious; they're slow, janky and simplistic.

The second game, Bound in Blood, is a much better game. Go play that instead.

An absolute gem of a game.
This game has aged remarkably well, especially compared to the first game, which is not a game I would recommend playing unless you really want the story.

Graphics, while technologically dated, still look pretty decent.

The gunplay feels good and has a nice variety of weapons. The game has a really innovative cover mechanic, allowing for intuitive peeking around and over objects. Cover system can be seen in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4EQFGd-Wq4
I'm very surprised I haven't seen that system being adopted in other games.
The only black mark on gameplay is the duels, which are horrible with keyboard and mouse controls.

The story is a surprising highlight; a classic story of greed, lust and redemption.

All-round great game, I highly recommend it.

A beautiful, hard, fun, short little game.

Gameplay consists of a mix of combat and puzzle-solving. Most puzzles are pretty good, but there was a certain juggling puzzle in particular that was a bit too unclear.
The controls are a bit unintuitive. It has 2 buttons dedicated to cycling 2 sets of gear. I feel like there could have been a better way to do that.
You also move slowly and can't jump while aiming, which is a bit annoying.

The game is extremely short; taking a fairly skilled player like me ~2 hours to complete. And while that makes the game "terrible value", it also has the positive of never feeling like the game is wasting your time. With 2-3 large AAA open world games coming out per year, each promising 50+ hours of (largely copy-pasted)content, a shorter, focused experience that doesn't waste my time is something I value. That being said, it could have padded the runtime just a little bit; A few more encounters here and there (the caves felt especially short).

In short, while gameplay could have used a bit of tweaking, it's ultimately a fun experience, a very short one, but a fun one nonetheless.

An okay game with some pretty severe technical limitations.

Graphics look pretty bad; graphics attempting to be photo-realistic in older generations tend to age pretty badly.
There's horrible pop-in; objects and characters literally popping into existence 10-15 meters away from you.
There's an FPS-limit of 60.
The game stutters pretty badly on modern hardware with Windows 10.
There's no Field of View options (and default is annoyingly narrow).
Mouse & Keyboard is unusable because of insane Mouse Acceleration.

Now, if you're willing to overlook the horrible technical limitations above, the game itself is okay.
The story has a nice ending twist, but also has a lot of dumb or boring elements throughout, kind of averaging it out.
The combat is a boring, floaty spam-fest. I groan most of the times I'm forced to engage in it. It is extremely easy, to the point where I could have beaten most fights (including the final boss) about 20 times over without breaking a sweat. So whenever I could I just ran away to skip combat or threw a smoke bomb and insta-killed everybody.
The side-missions are a boring slog. Most of them are literally a single sentence of story at the start and then a go-to-area-and-kill/punch/deliver, sometimes with a timer (I think there's literally 4 types of missions: race, kill, punch and deliver).
The parkour is a mixed bag. Some of it is pretty nice, but there are a lot of momentum-breaking animations that really break the flow of the game. Where it shines is the jumping puzzles, of which most are located in the Assassin Tombs; those were a highlight of the game.

Another highlight of the game was the music. There's some pretty great tracks in there.

So in short: Technical limitations bring down an otherwise okay game. It's just not worth playing with so many amazing games that can be played instead. And you don't need to play this one for the story. Because apparently none of the persistent plot goes anywhere in any of the later games.

Amusing story with some FMV sequences, but gameplay consists almost entirely of QTEs.

Couldn't bring myself to finish the game.
There are very basic combat and stealth mechanics (literally press X to hide/unhide), which I found very boring.
It does achieve an interesting atmosphere and the story was slightly interesting, but when the moment-to-moment gameplay is so boring I just couldn't push through.

A visually appealing, very interesting world and story let down by mediocre gameplay and some rather large plot holes.

Some plot holes I'm willing to forgive, but when the ending is a massacre of established logic I just cannot overlook that.

The higher difficulty setting is severely unbalanced; My main issue while playing wasn't getting killed, it was finding enough ammo to kill the bullet-spongy enemies. A certain boss fight was so bad that I literally had to run around the map looking for ammo.
Weapon variety is extremely limited by max carrying capacity of 2 weapons and the lack of ammo; If you're not using the same weapon types as the enemies are you soon will be, because you'll run out of ammo very quick and be forced to switch to the enemy weapons. Enemies dropping universal ammo rather than weapon-specific ammo would have solved a large part of this issue.

All in all, it's not a bad game; It's a very annoying game in how close it comes to greatness in many ways, but then falls flat.
So I'm not necessarily recommending against playing the game, but these are the negatives worthy of consideration.

A solid game, but not one I would recommend.
Gunplay is decent, nothing outstanding.
The time control mechanics are a bit gimmicky.
Graphics options are pretty barebones. FoV can only be modified through third-party tools and is otherwise locked to 65. FPS is limited to 120 and a lot of graphical effects aren't in the options menu.

Characters are boring and uninteresting.
The audio-logs scattered around the game are really out of place and seem like a forced way of explaining environmental storytelling or adding pointless details to the plot.
I was at least pleasantly surprised by the endings. They start off as a generic CoD-style quicktime event where you gotta shoot the bad guy, but then you get an interesting choice between 3 endings. The good ending was pretty forced, but the other 2 were pretty nice.

A janky, grindy, fun mess.
The game has its fair share of janky, annoying elements, but along with all the jank it also sticks out as something rather unique. Most notably the movement system in this game is unparallelled in the industry. No other movement system is as fluid, deep and fun as the one in this game.
It does have a rather massive learning curve though and the game is pretty terrible at teaching newer players, so try to find yourself a clan with an active Discord for the best beginner experience. (hit up Yggdrasil if you're Swedish!)
The ingame economy can be a blessing and a curse. You can earn everything in the game for free by trading the premium currency with players that bought it; usually through trading(selling) them rare items. But trading for this premium currency can ofc be a bit of a time-sink. It would be nice to have an ingame market instead of the mess that is Trade-Chat, but for now the Warframe Market website is highly recommended to help with trading.

A great PvP game that makes any standard more PvE-oriented MOBAs uninteresting to me.
This is a MOBA minus all the bullcrap; no crits, no itemization, no leveling up, no farming in general.
Matches are short enough to where annoying teammates won't bother you for more than 5 minutes.
Just jump in and play. Get better, crush nabs.

So, how is the game doing now, roughly a year after release?
In short: fine. Not bad, not good.
It hasn't taken off, but there's still definitely the dedicated core of players left still playing the game.
I'm not having much trouble finding matches in Platinum/Diamond league. Queue times are 1-2 minutes at most.

It deserves mention that cosmetics are lootbox-based, usually involving RNG to get what you want. That being said, the implementation is pretty fair, you get a lot of stuff for free by just playing and skin prices aren't unreasonable.
