I'd like to preface this by stating I have LOVED playing this game.
It. Is. Amazing.

But turning around and forcing your players to link to an account for a console when they're playing on PC is unacceptable. Especially when said console company uses predatory tactics.

This review will be considered for amendment if the above policy is rescinded.

UPDATE: In all their infinite wisdom, SONY have decreed that a PSN account will no longer be required for this game, however the game is no longer available in the majority of the world's countries, including Japan...make that one make sense.

10/10 realism, 100% conviction rate, more effective than actual detectives.

FICSIT is efficient.

It is so efficient, it made the Tesla Cyber truck actually work.
Don't question why FICSIT needs endless supplies of nuclear pasta, just build, automate and be efficient...or else.

Not worth the cost, even on the easiest difficulty the robots simply chew through the defences as if they weren't even there. Maybe if the devs increased the durability of structures then this would be worth the cost, but right now, I can't recommend that anyone spends money on this.

Captain's Log:
Star date 3485 - We took on a new Scientist yesterday, but he turned out to be a human so he suffocated as we refused to turn on the Oxygen because we needed the extra power to run the Pilot's racing thrusters.
After a brief moment to pay our respects, we headed out on our quest: to find more scrap to fully upgrade our ships secondary turrets, before tackling the request to retrieve some medical supplies that were stolen by bandits...that we accepted 3 years ago, we'll find them any day now.
Meanwhile we've explored various planets and found temples on many, however each time we've attempted to solve the riddles within, the Weapons Specialist has decided that "puzzles are too slow and don't have enough shooty shooty so I'm only going to press 1 button repeatedly until it works." So far this has been unsuccessful, maybe the next temple will comply?
The Engineer has developed a gambling addiction, this wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that he insists on playing liar's dice every warp, and has on no less than 7 occasions, passed out from standing up too suddenly after losing a round of dice, leaving us without an Engineer during an ambush....I may need to reprimand him at our next port call

Day 1: I've agreed to join this old biddy to start a commune on an uninhabited island, taxation is theft!

Day 5: We've successfully indoctrinated the trader into settling in our commune permanently, the revolution has begun!

Day 20: We've taken a banker hostage, soon we shall know the secrets to how the 1% hide their ill gotten wealth!

Day 36: Our commune has sent expeditions to other islands to spread the word and grow the revolution, soon we shall have the numbers to overthrow the corrupt regime in South City and free the oppressed peoples!

Ever since release this game has been an utter sh!tshow and an example of how NOT to make an MMO.
The in game economy is stagnant and the developers response was simply to increase the grind/ban people that complained.

You can't choose your starting area and the beginning skills require items you can only find in 1 of the starting areas, meaning you have to trek back and forth...THROUGH HIGH LEVEL AREAS just to get started.

Steer clear of this buggy, cash grab.

I can safely say that this game is exactly the same, just re-released to earn money again.

I do enjoy the gameplay of this game more than World of Warships, which isn't saying much as Wargaming can't manage their way out of a wet paper bag much less manage a balanced multiplayer game, but the severe lack of development and refusal to address game breaking bugs means I cannot in good faith recommend this game to new players.

In game there is a gacha mechanic for unlocking "commander cards" which offer several passive bonuses and a single active bonus for the ships you place them on. Currently the game will tell you you've unlocked a new commander, and there's a 30% chance that commander will disappear from your account immediately, when reporting this issue to the developers there has been no response. Did I mention that the only way to "roll" for these commanders is cash or in game merit (enough available each week for 2-5 draws).

another bug is certain active skills not working, such as a quick reload skill not reducing reload time as intended, but instead resetting the reload time which is useless and an active detriment. Again, no word from the devs on this.

The game is suffering from an extreme lack of advertisement, chances are if you're reading this review, you already knew of this game and played the old version, because otherwise it wouldn't have come to your attention. This means you will sit in waiting queues for over 5 mins only to be put into a 1v1 with bots in destroyers bulking out the teams, these bots have the path finding of a drunk squirrel and love nothing more than shooting teammates.

Lastly, there's only 1 server, it seems to be located in Hong Kong, and this means that average ping in Europe is 350-4600ms depending on number of ships/aircraft in the match...the times for all events are based on the Chinese active times so be prepared to set an alarm for 3am to participate also.

It seems like a blatant cash grab and somewhat of a breach of steam's re-release terms...but I guess if you can convince enough whales to pay for in game currency packs, you can get away with anything...

Update (22/11/2022): Having spent many hours rocking and stoning, it's still fun to play.
