Garry's Mod is a game that in its simplest terms I would refer to as a 'Sandbox experience like no other'.

It is a game which many can see as utterly pointless, having virtually no direct goal from the get-go and no guidance as to how to progress. Whilst those people see it as a negative aspect however, I believe it is what makes the game special and makes it stand out from the crowd. The lack of goal and guidance leaves its players full control over what they want to do and can result in the same feeling you get when you're 11 years old and your parents leave you home alone to your own devices. You have full creativity over what you do and are limited only by the amount of content, which considering the vast workshop support is effectively endless.

Striding away from the default sandbox setting, Garry's mod also provides a large variety of servers, vast majority of which are provided by the community, for the community. By far the most popular genre would be roleplaying which despite sounding weird at first can prove itself to be quite fun. You can play in servers mimicking cities going through borderline anarchy or you could participate in one of the many varieties of military-focused gamemodes in which you crawl up the ranks and try and better yourself and dwelve deep within lore. The other notable genres however are generally more mini-game focused in which you play round after round of a variety of games which Garry's mode is essentially built to support and in many cases is the place of origin for them in the first place. Some common examples include Trouble in Terrorist Town, Prop Hunt and Zombie Apocalypse games with a wave system.

Overall I believe that Garry's Mod is a definite must have as it offers an infinite amount of content for a relatively small price.
