The trailer really doesn't do the unique weapon system justice. It is just unique, and makes you wonder why other games haven't done this already.

Take the starting revolver for example, it's a simple double-action revolver. Lots of games have that. The difference here is there are a few buttons in regards to gun handling, so you have a Reload, Unload and ♥♥♥♥ button.
Reload button performs a quick reload using a speedloader (expendable), which is fastest to get the gun ready in combat.
Unload button unloads your entire clip, and then you have to smash that Reload button to shove the bullets in. If you are stingy with your speedloaders, this is an option.
♥♥♥♥ button ♥♥♥♥♥ the hammer. This turns the double action trigger into single action, which makes follow-up shots more controllable and feels much better.

That's the quick gist of the first gun. With the assault rifle, if you keep using Reload, you will run out of spare mags eventually and have to insert the singular bullet manually directly in the chamber to use the gun. The recommended actions are to either save your mags with Unload, or use other simpler guns like the revolver, or level-action rifle, can't lose your mags if the gun doesn't have them.

The weapon handling is just nice. However there are more casual options for less sophisticated individuals. Oh and I also like the vertical tactical belt that the Martyr wears.

I thought I was done with 'competitive' shooters but this game pleasantly surprises me, it's kinda fun I guess. This review is from a casual player who knew some Counter-Strike, and some Apex I guess.

Gamemodes
- 7v7 DM: When just starting the game you can only play this. This is intended for new players to get involved with the general gunplay and game mechanic, so it's good enough a start. You should unlock the next mode after 2 games (I think).
- Escort: It's Overwatch-like, I don't like this type of game so I didn't bother playing after a few games.
- 3v3v3v3v3 DM: In my opinion, it's the best of the Unranked modes. Less claustrophobic than the other DM mode, you can actually use skills and probably consist mostly of bots. I play this for warmups, and the bots make for good target practice, to prep for the main mode.
- Demolition: The main mode the game is balanced from, Bomb Defusal. Your teammates should consist of mostly humans, and here you will need to actually git gud and actually learn the game to win, assuming your team isn't rolling the others.
- Ranked: It's Demolition, but slapped with some ranks. Wanna tryhard, get in here. The game is still fresh, so the meta or whatever isn't settled yet, but this will understandably shift later on. It's what I play mainly for now.
However it would be great if we can get a coop mode or something, because I like the game enough but not at the period when I can, or want to, try very hard anymore.

Mechanics
The mechanics together usually means your death is most likely could be avoided. A single sniper shot to the head from across the map could kill you, but down is not out. Your options were either turning to paper to reduce hitbox and damage, or crawl into cover and let the team gets you up. A lot of """unfair""" deaths could be avoided this way, but there's no helping someone bumrushing into a fortified room, or flanking alone heroically without knowing what's behind the next angle.
Normally TPS gives defenders huge advantages, mainly being able to watch a corridor from behind cover. It of course shows up here as well, and the game's solution to this is with an abundance of abilities and utilities to scan or force enemies out. For now, it's still novel to me.

Characters
I can only compare this with Apex, the only game I played with abilities. Unlocking characters is much simpler here, as I spent 500+ hours with some BP's on the other game unlocking all of them, while using about 3 in total. Meanwhile I could already get 3 here after some hours, and apparently it takes 400 hours in total to unlock all? Not like I will use all of them, and besides there is a training room here, with everyone unlocked so you get to try them all.

But honestly? I play for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'s flat bandaged chest.

Below is my demo review, the real game feels even better.

I initially got really bored with this, but then really grew to like this after some reflections and finishing sequential maps. The devs behind this are brilliant.

The tutorial dungeon gives you a perfect 0 cost spam deck, and any half-decent card player would *love* it.
But the dungeon after that gives you an amp deck. The amp mechanic deck is different from every other thing I've played, so things got slowed down a lot. The fact that playing this slow deck instantly from the 0 cost deck was a huge shock. Also no options to skip card reward, which will make your deck bloat? Nah.

But then I decided to give the game another try, seriously this time. The amp deck is not as fun as the 0 cost one, but it is unique to this game with its movement mechanic. And you can also do some serious ♥♥♥♥ with it as well. I should applaud the devs for thinking outside the box, they really did add many things to this one. Things like you are encouraged to skip mob battles when you are prepared to whack the boss, encouraged to engage in more difficult fights to get better loots, and encouraged to hit the huge roaming boss, all for the sweet 3* valuations.

It's the first game I pre-ordered, ever.

The world is very interesting, with different factions using different methods to achieve their own goals.
I'm a sucker for witnessing something from another perspective and seeing how different factions react to events unfolding, naturally or intervened by you. And there are tons of that here, with the major characters' positions and dialogs changing every time frame (I think).

The combat is punishing, especially in the early game, as you can get stunlocked to death by multiple enemies at once (at Hard). Also you get stunned for an eternity if you run out of stamina, usually leading to certain death. It then devolves into countering and recovering stamina to counter, which is not very fun.

The characters are likable, with relatable motives most of the time. They all have memory quests which further explain their characters and actions.

However the thing I dislike the most is how you can't change something when it's not the time to do so.
For example, you see your sister in front of you, but then 2 guys appear, got their ass handed to them, and then your sister disappears. And this kind of thing happens multiple times. The story does hint that there are quite a few guys, but you often only see 2 or 3, and they can always stop you, which irks me quite a bit.

All in all, great game.
To be honest, I bought this immediately when seeing that Botan is a girl after playing the demo.

What adventurers do:
- Fight monsters
- Defuse traps
- Get raped
- Rescue other raped adventurers
- Collect bingo balls
- Solve puzzles
- Get extorted by other adventurers
- Cook and sell food to other adventurers
- ♥♥♥♥ other adventurers
- Join an exploration group
- Solve tremendously more complex dungeon floors together
- Get raped together anyways
- Face hazardous conditions, rendering them incapable of basic communication
- Plan out level distributions and other item management thingies
- Fight to the end for promised fortunes and treasures

What you do:
- Take everything adventurers earn and send them back in the dungeon for another day of wageslaving

Boy do I love capitalism.

I remember playing the gacha ver for a short while a few years back, and I liked it enough to buy now.
When comparing to the gacha ver, I might recall some parts incorrectly, please understand.

The game steers away from the gacha system by raising your unit's levels to 100 and removing stamina, farm stages, daily missions and the likes. The only gamemode currently available is rougelite, which I was fond of the most, and makes the most sense to be a standalone game.

Characters are earned by defeating levels, you start with 4 starter characters. To unlock new ones you need to beat the stages.
However some others are currently locked and require DLCs to unlock, but there's no signs of any IAP or DLC yet. You didn't need to pay to get them in the phone ver I think.

Weapons are acquired randomly in the rougelite stages, although you can roll in a gacha with in-game currency to get new ones in your starting loadout.
I unlocked 2 weapons of a character locked behind DLC, but she didn't become playable. I'm not sure whether the phone ver unlocks a character when you get her weapons. Please don't do that if you read this.

Update: You actually always start with your default weapon, and rarer ones are rewards during runs only. So you should just use roll currency to get upgrade materials instead of actual weapons I suppose.

No Artifact system
Something is clearly off here. I clearly remember you could equip your units with sets of artifacts that boost her stats and activating effects when conditions are met. I've seen none of that here, and I've beaten 2 stages.
It was one of the better things about the game so I'm not sure why it was left out. Especially considering some of the rougelite buffs are tied to them.

Update: You actually can get artifacts, but they are run rewards only. And quite rare from what I can see. Oh well.

I'm biased in this review, yes.
