A wonderful, challenging philosophical journey. The writing (and primary sources, of course) are improved compared to the first game, which was already great in that regard, with this installment treading plenty of new thematic ground to deliver a critical, but perhaps underrepresented, viewpoint.

Where this game lacks in comparison to TTP1 would be the puzzles. On the whole I found it too easy (even the gold puzzles, but your mileage may vary), especially compared to Road to Gehenna. In particular I found that a lot of puzzles can be solved by "just doing what's in front of you" without much thought. I'm hopeful though that we'll get a DLC sometime which makes good on the promise of all the neat new puzzle mechanics and delivers some truly mind bending solutions.

Citizen Sleeper is an incredibly great science fiction narrative with a wonderful setting, memorable characters, and well-executed themes. The narrative essentially takes the form of separate vignettes which are tied together by location and by you, the player character. These vignettes allow the game to explore a wide space of themes and relationships, between characters, their world, and history, in the way truly great science fiction does. Gameplay-wise it's a relatively straightforward management game with RPG elements, gameplay which is leveraged to subtly reinforce the narrative and its impact. If you're the kind of person who's gameplay-focused then this isn't your game, but if you're the kind of person that enjoys interactive narratives then you'll find no better entry in that category than Citizen Sleeper. In fact, I'd even argue that it stands up to some of the best literary science fiction as an example of the elevation of the genre to its promised potential.

Also, it's got a fantastic soundtrack.

Early Access Review
Probably the most interesting grand strategy game I've played in years. As one would expect from the lead designer of Long War, it's difficult and not very easy to get into. You will probably lose many games before winning. Yet if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with a deep and complex strategy game which is a joy to play. It's the type of strategy game I've been searching for for a long time.

The biggest complaint I see people make about this game is that it's too perfect. That should tell you something about how great it is.

Absoultely the best puzzle game I have ever played. In fact, it's probably one of the best games I have ever played in general.

A trash game without mods. Now that mods must be paid for, expect to spend more than you spent on the game getting this trash to work. Do yourself a favor and go play something is complete.
