Early Access Review
Wow, I can't believe I just played this for two hours straight and into midnight on a work evening! I really just want to go back into this game. Unlike Sound Boxing or Audio Shield, this game actually goes with the rhythm of the music. Also, slashing feels bad ass and rewarding. I can't say enough positive things about this game thus far. My arms are like jello and I'm excited for the level editor. I'd love to go through my collection of electronic vinyl and have some of my classic house, jungle, dub, garage, tracks transfered from analog vinyl to this game. Just the thought makes me giddy. This is truly great work.

So far, I'm having quite a bit of fun with this. Clearly one of the best-looking VR games currently out and extremely immersive. There are a few issues though. First, teleportation requires perfect finger placement on the touchpad before clicking making it somewhat clunky when trying to do a teleport frag or even move. Next, the left hand is mainly and only used for throwing frag grenades or launching rockets. If you are a lefty like me, that’s not so bad; but if you are right handed, I can imagine throwing frags can be frustrating. Finally, the intermittent stuttering can be unsettling and frustrating. I believe the stuttering is caused by texture loading since the stutters typically happen when new textures pop in the scene. Also, for me this game is installed on my secondary 500GB SATA SSD and still experience this issue quite often to make it a nuisance. Besides the texture pop issue, framerate seems acceptable with my overclocked 4.5Ghz 4770K and GTX 1080. I didn’t consider the details for the frame timing, but mostly it stayed south of 11ms, so it avoided reprojection on my system apart from the texture pops.
Others have complained about aiming and shooting. To me the weapon tracking is nowhere near as refined as Arizona Sunshine, H3, or other VR games; however, it excels in fast twitch gameplay just like what I’ve fell in love with in Doom 2016. For that, I can forgive this game since shooting still feels natural and action packed and just as addictive as ever!
So, there you have it. Doom VFR is a fun, addictive, and awesome game that still could use some work. Overall, I think it’s a more stable first effort than Arizona Sunshine’s first release last year. I feel once Bethesda works out the kinks, this will be a staple game every gamer will want to have in their library.

Just got this game. So far while playing I've punched my girlfriend in the gut while I was stabbing another gladiator. Still the most rewarding VR game thus far! After this short break since I'm covered in sweat, I'll make it up to her somehow. I don't know yet.

Yeah, back to the game, it's a must buy!

What a great concept!
Excellent gameplay mechanics that are absolutely unique and fun. Floating around steering a balloon and fan powered lawnchair is helplessly addictive as a shooter. There are a few caveats though.
First, the game still is in early access, thus it's a little glitchy. I had issues getting the audio to default to the Vive's headset correctly at first with this game, you can't "reset seated" view mode, also, the controllers are swapped, for example, the steam vr shows your left and right hands correctly, but the game will show opposite. Another issue, there were no other players in multiplayer yesterday evening when I've first tried this game. Fortunately I could play against bots, but that's not the same.
Overall, with further work, I feel this game will easily become one of the staples in seated VR games! Once major bugs are resolved and multiplayer becomes more common, I would highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Since buying the Vive on Black Friday, I've mainly played the typical shooter games as well as The Lab. Tonight I've decided to give this a try since many of the other games I've played were getting quite boring for me.
This game sucks you into it's dreamlike world where you are attempting to find your lost sister. You arrive on a reciently abandoned beach scattered with clues on what occured reciently. The feeling of loneliness quickly consumes you in the first few minutes of the game. Eventually you meet someone; I'll not disclose who he is; but there's much mystery to this story,
Overall, I strongly recommend this game, it plays as a novel where you are the main character. Little details are given to begin with, but once the story unfolds, you'll crave the next episode!
