Amazing sandbox game, full of voxels, bombs, cars, vessels, and of course, destruction. Haven't tried modded content but it sounds great and performance is expected with solid 60 fps on high end PCs at max graphics. Still very addictive.

UPDATE 29/07/2021:

The game is dead. Less than 100 daily players, no new updates, workshop lacking of content and a rushed DLC. 4 years ago, I got really interested into this project once the first demo came out. Now look at this, nothing will probably happen in the future to this game. Seems like Noobz + 505 partnership has always been a bad idea since the start, which led to this. Disappointed with both Noobz and 505 Games. Wasted potential, while they are working on a new game which is nothing like their original idea. I hope there will be something better that will replace this game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A fun game but it's worse than my expectations. I will tell you why:

Cons:

-Apparently DLCs are now going to be paid for new factions with a couple of reskins, unoriginal maps and campaign (and they are MORE THAN 5 DOLLARS) which is absurd for such a small game.
-Small updates which fix only a few things. As I said before, they only focus on DLCs now since this game is now owned by a AAA company (505 Games).
-No massive urban maps like Paris in the last demo.
-No optimization, you will need more ram than 16 GB and a CPU as good as a Ryzen 5 3600. The amount of ram memory this game uses is absurd, I have never seen something like it in other games (13 GB of ram usage on the menu. Yea, I'm not kidding).
-Gameplay is kinda weird, especially with the infantry, where it's not as smooth and jumps are just levitation for a second.

This game has some good features however, for example:

-A huge amount of units, tanks and planes.
-A good base campaign.
-Great game modes, including those inside sandbox.
-Good cartoony graphics.

I recommend to not buy this game unless you want to play it for a couple of hours and that's it. I bought it during a sale when it came out, but still needs some development even though they already have made more than 4 demos in its entire lifespan. And please, do not buy the DLCs, they don't need more money with this piece of unfinished game where the optimization doesn't exist and a couple of issues which can be annoying.

A game where the only thing that matters is grinding. If you are doing well on it, then they will release any update if possible by cutting half of the research gain to ♥♥♥♥ you up. If you are going to play it or buy anything that is premium, take a moment to think and check how the community of this game reacts to any update that is released before taking action. It might be hard for you to leave the game, while the developers torture you with more top tier and premium vehicles.

This project had so much potential... and now it's abandoned.

Introduction

Ravenfield is a small FPS game with multiple vehicles, maps and game modes. The game doesn't have that much content, that's why the Steam Workshop of this game matters. It's full of mods, including maps, skins, weapons and gadgets, vehicles, configurations, mutators and more. After playing for almost 3 years and +450 hours in-game, I'm reviewing and giving my opinion on this game.

Graphics

Yea, we are starting by the worst. The graphics of this game are kinda decent, even on the highest settings. Lightning is basic, shadows feel decently natural and textures are not bad. I feel like new features to this game's graphics are needed. And since the graphics aren't very good-looking, a good graphics card isn't required.

Gameplay

The gameplay of this game can be addictive. If you create your own maps, play the Conquest mode (which is a small "campaign" of this game) or just mess around with Workshop mods, then you may have fun spending hours on it. Vanilla weapons are really well balanced as there are not many good options to choose from, and as far as I know there are no issues with level design and the vanilla vehicles. Maps and game modes are really unique: you got different game modes like a zombie mode with skeletons (added back in October of 2017 if I remember correctly), point match (good old domination), skirmish (something like a battle royale but with flags, limited spawns and reinforcement tickets), battalions (now called "battle"), domination (originally it was point match but with reinforcement tickets, now it's something very different and fun, since only 3 flags in the map are chosen and if your team captures most of them, the enemy looses a battalion) and spec ops (there's a single flag full of bots and you need to kill them all or capture the flag with your small squad). There are different maps which some of them are small and others are very detailed and even bigger, but you can create your own maps, too. The game is not that optimized though, so don't expect big battles with 100 bots if you have a decent PC. It needs a lot of RAM, even when you don't have that many mods installed. However, there aren't many bugs and glitches too, at least on vanilla content.

Community

I don't know much about the community, but I only know it's full of people with different projects for the game, new people trying out the Unity engine, impressive people who do stuff in Blender, weebs (yea, weebs), people who do amazing artworks, etc. The only game dev, Steelraven, is very active so don't expect this game to be dead in a couple of years. Kids don't affect you that much so you are safe from them. Of course, this game has a discord server with full of people and content creators of this game, including the dev.

Conclusion

Probably the best choice for you during sales as you are going to spend your free time on this game. It's being updated almost every month, and the dev is working hard on removing it from Early Access. Doesn't matter if you can't run other good shooters like Insurgency, Arma, Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose, etc. This game offers you the same amount of content from these games in the Steam Workshop and runs with a solid 40 FPS with only 30-40 bots, a couple of vehicles and a decent PC.

A realistic, cool and fantastic game. I don't like the DLCs 'cause they have few things and they could be added in updates, not in DLCs. It's nice tho, I like the map creator, very simple and easy! Can be laggy for laptops like me but just change the graphics and you'll be comfortable, don't wait to buy it! :D

Brick Rigs is a sandbox game focused on brick building and physics. The game is developed by a single person and it has been around since late 2016. I have been playing this game for more than 5 years, and after the recent updates, especially 1.0, I decided to edit my review on it to give a more updated opinion on how the game is going towards the end of early access.

Gameplay-wise, Brick Rigs is very diverse. It has different styles of enjoyment for different kinds of people, ranging from small kids to young adults. You can either destroy things from the workshop, start your own fictional car company or do battles with other players using handguns and military planes, boats and armoured vehicles. And yes, there’s fully functional boats now with water physics and stuff, how cool is that? Anyway, game modes are also very interesting. You can either play sandbox like any normal player, zombie mode, battle mode and conquest which is just like Battlefield. Building in this game is easy to learn but it has a big learning curve so you will have to build for a while to get somewhere good, at least for the community in general. However, the building style has evolved, thanks to the 1.0 update, into a 3D modelling thing, and it isn’t similar to the Lego-style building back in legacy, which is the pre-1.0 version of the game. You can still play that branch though but we can’t deny that the gameplay has massively (and maybe positively) changed with the recent updates.

Nevertheless, the game includes different maps with unique features and graphics. For example, you got Bricksville, a big city map made in 2018 with the (…smallest part of the builder…) community and includes lots of mountains, suburban areas, airstrips and racetracks, while there’s City which is the same but smaller. You also got Canyon, very self-explainable but it has a big ocean with water physics, and Desert, which is a small mountainous desert map. There are some other test maps like Grid map and Space. Oh yea, and Racetrack, a big and speedy track with a drag strip inside for quick car tests. After that, there are custom maps you can download, which are made by the community and use .pak files to be added into the game. Other mods include sound mods, mod menus and effect mods. Although, there are not that many available due to the small amount of great people who develop mods every week.

What about the graphics? Well, they are good. Not RTX-level of course, but for how it performs, it looks good enough. It might lack on some areas due to the developer’s ideology of making it look bland to run better, but on most maps and times of day it looks pretty cinematic. Especially with the map updates in 1.2, the textures look great and the new vegetation helped to add more detail to some maps. Draw distance and details are a couple of things I would improve to make the graphics better, but I don’t really expect any patches doing this any soon.

The community of Brick Rigs might not be surprising for many people. It is full of childish minds that go around making it a insufferable kindergarten from hell. Ok, well, I might be exaggerating, but the community must be the worst thing about this game for several players. You will definitely find a lot of young teenagers or even kids that will annoy you either on Steam, the official Discord server or in public servers. It is highly recommended to play in private servers with friends or people you met, which is the most fun part of playing the game, ironically. Many players are not mature enough or don’t speak a single English word when you join public servers. They most likely know more about how to run a public RP server than their mathematics book at school. Oh, and about RPs, private ones are most of the time very fun to play, since they are sometimes very organized and many people join just to enjoy the game together.

So, in my own personal opinion, Brick Rigs is great. If I was 7GN, I would give it a 7/10, but since I’m not with them and I actually give honest reviews on games, I give it a 8/10. You will surely have either average play time on it or continue playing for years to come. The game is infinite in terms of physics and building, so I suggest you to follow that way if you ever purchase this game. The future for it is bright, and if the roadmap is accurate enough, it will end up becoming one of the most popular sandbox games ever on Steam. Hope it is that way.
