Welcome to our little group!

We are a bunch of board and card game enthusiasts who also like to play those kinds of games with our online friends in the digital realm. To that end we meet once a week for a

Digital Board Game Night on Thursdays at 9pm CEST / 3pm EDT

on our Discord server.

Should you be interested to join us please talk to one of the admins in this group. For us this is a social event and we'd like to have fun and chat with each other. So in order to join the group you have to be willing to use a mic on Discord. As our group is international we communicate in English. It doesn't have to be perfect but you should feel comfortable with that language :)

There is a growing list of games that we can play and we always look for new suggestions. It doesn't have to be a Steam game, nor a board or card game in the strictest sense. But it should be a game that underlines the social character of sitting around a (virtual) table to play a game together. We also usually prefer games of a tactical or strategic nature rather than games of chance or excessive randomness.

Bamboo & Bugs

This board game Thursday was quiet and peaceful, full of gardening, bamboo eating, and some bugs confrontation as well. The first game was Takenoko[en.boardgamearena.com], relatively simple (way WAY more simple than brain-cracking Keyflower!), but nice and cozy game of growing bamboo and feeding a panda. Archi took the lead from the very start and never actually gave it up. The clouds seemed to go away every Archi's turn, and he completed goal after goal with amazing pace! Nine goals from 8 needed (!) at the end of the game! This definitely means Player of the Week title! Congrats, Archi!

After that only two of us left, so we started a little bug war in Hive[en.boardgamearena.com]. Encantador started an ant rush on the early stages of the confrontation, and never stopped pushing, so Black Queen was quickly surrounded with nice and polite gentlemen. They all had a nice midnight conversation and lots of tea together afterwards!

Long Night on BGA :)

So last night we all met to play Keyflower[en.boardgamearena.com], yet another worker-placement game. (Seems to be a popular genre with our group.) And this time we had quite a lot of players with the five of us. Nobody had played the game yet so we had a level playing field (as far as that is actually possible with Dan around :). The first few rounds, heads were visibly smoking and brain cogs audibly turning as the game is not an easy one. The mechanics itself are not difficult but working out what effect your actions will have in the long run proved to be challenging. Unfazed by this challenge a certain player - who shall not be named - quickly nodded off so that concerned parties checked at frequent intervals if he was still alive and breathing. Meanwhile tensions grew and it was pretty obvious that we would not be playing the Disney version of the game that night. Cut-throat outbidding and shameless resource snatching kept everybody on his resp. her toes. Some name-calling was clearly in order and was done with a passion :D

In the end the Fluffy One was quite proud of himself going into the final scoring with a slight lead to the next player. But it dawned on him that his measly village would not be enough to secure a win that night. So while all the players payed their little meeples ... pardon me... keyples minimum wage and allowed for an acceptable retirement age, Dan unscrupulously exploited his workers and built a sizable workforce. No doubt underpaid and underfed it still proved to be capable and efficient in securing tiles and resources at all the right moments. Even the Reds succumbed to Dan's capitalistic exploitation :D So in the end Dan secured a comfortable lead, with Elisa coming in second with a respectable score as well.

Congratulations to Dan who takes the Player of the Week position again! Thanks everybody for playing! It was a long game but I think we all had fun regardless. Next week we'll likely play something shorter and lighter :)
