Chinese New Year has ended, for the chinese, and once again, school is in session. Remember when I mentioned that I will be transferring into another course? Well, that failed, so I guess I'm stuck in Digital Photography... but, I realised something.

Playing video games and developing video games are two seperate topics, with the former being my main interest, and as for the latter, I had no prior experience of programming. Just barely.

Besides that, I also realised this: I have been chasing my one, favorite interest for around 10 years or so (I was 6 before I was introduced to console and PC gaming)... But, for some reason, this one question drags along as I continue into pre-adulthood; why am I still chasing this dream, even when things seems unclear, or doesn't make actual sense to me?

Instead of simply chasing the dream of developing video games for passion, I'm... actually okay staying in the course. Having varied interests would suffice more than just pursuing the one dream that I alway desire.

I suppose school have already started, for those still in education in Secondary Schools, and those starting out in College. As for me, my next step in education is, of course, college. However, it was a different experience, as I continued my education in one of Singapore's international colleges.

My transition from Secondary School to ITE College East was slurred, but steady as I manage to maintain a foothold of what to expect as I grow up, in the international college. Having signed up for the "Digital Animation" course in College Central, what seem to be a possible future was altered, as I failed the interview, forcing me to be enrolled into other choices in the other colleges.

Right now, I'm in the "Digital Audio & Video Production" course, which is about creating films and movies, which to my extent, was "out of character", in terms of my personal interest, which was Gaming, in general. As such, I have seeked help to propose an transfer into another course, that opens the door into my (very, very) favorite interest: Info-Communication Technology.

"Cloud Computing", to be precise. Basically, a new technology in hosting gaming servers and IP addresses. Afterwards, I shall pursue to learn more about developing video games, which WILL, be my lifetime profression, as I grow up... to be a Indie Game Developer.

Formalities aside, I wish to thank you guys, for the journey I have taken with you, throughout my gaming years. I really wish to play with you more often, but somehow... studies get in the way, don't they?

So here's my take-home lesson for you to remember from me:

"If opportunities doesn't knock, build a door."

Attention guildies, Gamer-Troopa here, requires your attention.

While having a discussion with our fellow 2nd Head GM, Jonbottron, we have considered introducing "Emulation Gaming", into the guild, as our guild's main activity. What is "Emulation Gaming", you might ask? Here is the briefing.

"Emulation Gaming", or simply "Emulation", is the process of running softwares meant for older consoles/computers, in newer, recent consoles/computers. It's like playing your favorite games on a PSP, as a form of emulation.

Anyway, during the discussion, due to the fact that this was new to our guild, we decided to start it slow, with NES games, using the NES Emulator, "NEStopia". While this is new in our guild's activities, we will eventually get used to it soon enough.

Tutorials for setting up Netplay in emulators are found in the internet, more preferrably, YouTube. But for now, we will be focusing on NES emulation gaming.
