"Welcome to our humble science lab" -Professor Sakharov

The Ecologists consist of government-employed researchers in the Zone. Operating under direct command of the Ukrainian Government, the Ecologists work to study the Zone "in order to properly harness its power for the good of mankind". Their primary base of operations is near Lake Yantar, in a mobile laboratory/bunker which is headed by Professor Sakharov and his assistant, Professor Kruglov. Inside the bunker, you will find a large collection of scientific apparatuses and a steady supply of weapons and ammunition, and often suits built for Ecologists working in the Zone. Professor Kruglov, a veteran Ecologist, has been in the Zone since the Military's first expedition there in 2007 to study the 2006 emission. The guarding force in his area was all but obliterated by The Miracle Machine's emissions, with the few survivors becoming zombified. As of right now, the Ecologists do not have a strict protection force, and seek to employ stalkers from various factions, or often mercenaries, to protect their laboratories and bunkers, since most aren't trained for combat and only utilise suits built for anomalous protection.

Ecologists generally study possible new energy sources, anti-gravitational devices, genome modification/teleportation, and revolutionary research provided by dissecting and studying artefacts and mutants.

After the Brain Scorcher was disabled by Strelok and his gang, Ecologists pushed further into the Zone, with an additional mobile laboratory being led by Professors Hermann and Ozersky. This bunker was guarded by a group of shady Mercenaries led by Black and a group of researching Loners led by Topol, but Black's team of Mercenaries eventually goes rogue, and either Duty, Freedom, or Spartacus's Loners can be hired to protect them.
