TF2Data's Regulars! - Server Startup Crew

Remember to join the TF2Data group!

If I invited you to THIS group, it's because I either used to play with you a lot or I've seen you around a lot recently on my servers.

I also try to take into account whether or not daily steamgroup popups would be annoying to you, so if I didn't invite you, I just assumed you're the kinda person who wouldn't like that. Or forgot your username.

This is a group for the dedicated players of TF2Data.

- Snipers and rifles only, only pure headshotting! Or bodyshotting...
- Darwin's Danger shield nerfed not to reduce headshot damage.
- It's still useful for blocking fully charged bodyshots though!

Growing a community is tough, and often its regulars are the backbone of allowing it to grow.

When a server is new, it's hard to fill with players because people simply don't know about it. And we all know it's more fun to join a game that actually has players than to join an empty one.

This is where a community's "regulars" come in. People who like the community and will join the servers and play even if they're empty. They keep the server from being always empty and thus no new players ever joining because it's always empty.

I really appreciate anyone who appreciates TF2Data enough to become a regular. You truly are the heart of the community :3

Alas, it has been years since I've felt any need to do a 'server startup' event.

Back when TF2Data started, it was only a TDM Hightower server.

I was the only one going online and I'd stay online for upwards to 4 hours to get even 1-2 people to join and eventually we worked up to 14 regulars.

But then due to money issues I closed down for half a year.

Issues cleared up and I reopened. Eventually, I decided to finally run a VSH with some light weapon modifications.

The same scenario happened where I would AFK for hours just to get a few players to connect to a not-empty server.

Finally in December of 2014, during one Christmas break, seemingly out of nowhere we got a large stream of players.

Since then we've met many new regulars, and retained that stream of players.

Looking at gametrackers for TF2, it seems as either the game itself or at least the old popular community servers are dying out. Even some of my old favorites don't get any players at all.

I gotta say, I was thankful this Thanksgiving that my goal of having a place to play a fun VSH server has survived to this point.

I know I complain a lot about how no one's on in the morning, but I think I'll accept that as TF2's decline in community server driven participation in the game. Things like Valve-only contracts and removing/hiding community servers from quickplay have really toned them down.

But it doesn't matter if there is no hope

As the madness of the system grows

The wall of pure fiction's cracking in my head

And the addiction of my world still spreads

REQUIREMENTS:
Classes allowed: Soldier, Sniper, Scout, Engineer, Medic, Spy, Demo and Pyro
Pyro cannot use Reserve Shooter
Anything goes for Medic, except for Heavy + Medic Combo
Soldier has to use basejumper and airstrike for 6k
Pyro's damage is to 4k
Medic's damage is to 7k
Sniper's Damage varies: Huntsman 4k, Stock 7k, Machina 9k
Hitmans heatmaker 9k
Scout Damage Varies: Bonk + Boston 2.8k
Bonk has to be used with bostonbasher
Cleaver Sandman is 4k -NO PRIMARIES-
Demoknights is 8k ( FULL demoknight, no nade launchers)
Engineer is Minisentry 5.3k
Spy has to achieve 7k by any means necessary

While I do not play Team Fortress 2 anymore, I will never forget the memories of staying up long nights goofing around on TF2Data's servers, whether it was TDM, VSH, SNP, or CWD. Those memories will be forever cherished, thanks for the fun Chdata.
