Modularity Games Joins Forces With Plasticity Studios To Publish Tabletop Playground

We’re excited to introduce you to Tabletop Playground, the debut title from German developer Plasticity Studios and the second game to be published by Modularity Games. A modern take on digital tabletop gaming for fans and creators, Tabletop Playground is coming to PC in Q2 2020.

Built on Unreal Engine 4, experience digital tabletop gaming like never before with realistic physics and satisfying controls. Recreate and modify classic games or build your own and share them with the world. Utilize specialized tools to play niche and complex game genres with up to 8 players online, all in Tabletop Playground.

Featuring an easy to use in-game editor, players can create intricate and original games without any programming or game development experience. While JavaScript scripting support allows players to define complex rules and actions, meaning you’re only limited by your creativity.

You can start creating games[tabletopplayground.mod.io] for Tabletop Playground right now as part of the Creator’s Program, an early access initiative we started in December which utilises the cross platform modding API https://mod.io. At DBolical, we are huge believers that mods bring out the best in games. From the moment we launched ModDB in 2002 and started playing mods like Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Insurgency, Killing Floor (and so many others) we were hooked. Today, indie games like RimWorld and Cities: Skylines with incredibly active modding communities inspire us, and reinforce our belief that enabling the creativity of the community is a very powerful thing.

Two years ago we started working on https://mod.io, an open mod API for game developers (much like Steam Workshop) that allows user-friendly browsing, uploading, and installation of mods. With mod.io we are building a highly customizable drop-in platform to support mods (for studios large and small), that has allowed us to work closer with game developers than ever before.

Now that mod.io has approached the point where we are ready to onboard games to further our vision and help developers succeed, we are proud to announce a brand new initiative: Modularity[modularity.games]. Modularity is a new games publishing division with a focus on investing in and supporting games that are created by modders, inspired by mods, or have strong modding support themselves.
