So now that Dubai Legends Track has been released and we are getting more members joining, it's probably a good time to do a bit of a test run with an Event. First event would be elimination, and the final 4 of this elimination would compete on a set date and would be live streamed so anyone that's interested can watch, possibly a small prize. ;)

Once I know that you would like to sign up, you would be matched with one other pilot who you would then race against on Dubai Legends. It would be preferred that these 1v1 elimination matches are coordinated between the 2 pilots themselves but if needed, an LRC mod can do their best to set it up. Once a winner of those 2 is decided, the winner will go on and get closer to that top 4 spot. Because LRC is still so small I'm confident in going about it this way without having any drama. I'll go into more detail in a later post about requesting rematches etc..

Really wanted to keep this short so please put your vote in below so I know to sign you up to the event or not. I'll be posting a couple of 'Polls' over the next day or 2 that will help me decide on a few things, e.g. God Mode, 1v1's randomly picked or best matched with a similar lap time on the leader boards.

Hi everyone!

So now the official tournament has come to an end, It's time to start talking about our own tournaments!

I've been thinking a lot about the best way to go about this, and I've come up with a few ideas that I hope everyone will be happy with.

NATIONAL TEAMS

We have many pilots from many different places around the world which can make things quite difficult when it comes to coordinating race times etc. So I'm thinking the best way to keep a nice flow going with events is to set up 'Country Sub-groups' off the main LRC group where people can join the group of the country they are from. If a pilot is in a country that have no fellow pilots, they would be free to join a country team that has a similar time zone until a larger player base forms in their country.

This way pilots from similar timezones can coordinate between themselves within their countries LRC sub-group of what time they are usually flying and can much easily plan events and eventually a 'Nationals' event where the best pilot of the country will be chosen to fly at a 'Worlds' event where they will race against the top pilots of the other LRC sub-groups.

So, by now you're probably thinking how similar this is sounding to how it's set up in real life.. well that's exactly what I'm going for as this seems to be a good way to get a self-driven community for this game as it progresses and gets more exposure as this hobby grows.

I'm very open to how these subgroups would be moderated as there are a few ways, but I'm thinking to start the best way for a pilot to start up a subgroup for their country is to send me a message, or make a post within the group forum and I can go ahead and set the group up and invite you. From there, if they like, they can choose to be the countries team leader where they would be then made a mod of the group.

I'm hoping that things won't get too messy down the track with deciding on who Team Leader is etc.. But I believe the fairest way to decide who this is would be whoever the most active/friendly is, and if there is still some dispute on who should be team leader, we can get it sorted out with the LRC mods. :)

With all that being said, I'm sure everyone would much prefer to see a friendly nomination and discussion between the group to decide on a TL that is willing to coordinate race nights and also organize with other TL's from other countries about Country vs. Country special events.

I've come across a site called 'challonge.com' where TL's can create events for their group. I'm sure there are a heap of sites like this so if anyone knows of something similar and better suited, let me know. :)

Going forward I think it's safe to say we can call this a 'Beta' period In terms of Nationals and Worlds events so obviously at the moment it's difficult to have any calender, but hopefully down the track we can have some sort of seasonal calender LRC can follow.

Just to summarize with the National Team sub-group stuff: If you'd like a group started for your country and there isn't one up already, send me a message and we can get one sorted. Once the majority of the main group are in a sub-group, we can start talking further about planning events.


CREW TEAMS

Now we have talked about the national sub-groups, let's talk about LRC groups that can be started with any other pilot of LRC. No doubt since Multiplayer was released, you've all met a fellow pilot(s) that you have really gotten along well with. Well I'm thinking we could have the same setup up as the national team events, but with sub-groups made up of pilots that fly frequently together.

So if you've met a few pilots and want to put together a team just create a group with a name along the lines of 'LRC - teamname' and I'll create a thread in the LRC forums where other teams can easily see what other teams there are to challenge.

I'll leave it there for now I think. I was planning on talking about a 3rd division that would be a free-for-all elimination tournament that would be constantly going in rotation where there would be a leaderboard on challonge.com where you will be matched up against 1 other pilot, and the winner goes on. But that's a discussion for another day I think as we would need to think up a way to match racers fairly, or if we would make the matchmaking completely random.

Finally, this is more so just a suggestion to try and connect the community more. If the majority of the group would prefer not to go about it this way, we can all discuss the best way to do it in some sort of group chat together. We are also looking into using the MultiGP platform to use but we'll keep you updated on that :)
