Hi all!

With the guild’s successful transition into Guild Wars 2 moving into it’s sixth month, it’s time that we look into the next year and what things may come for us all in the coming months ahead.

We’re all very happy with how the guild has grown and we wish to thank our members for making Kabal what it is and hope that we will continue to have many adventures together as we move into 2013!

With that out of the way let us peer into the crystal ball as we see into the far future and look at what horrors we will wrought!

Event Calendar Changes!
Please remember to sign up for events even if you will not be attending. There are 3 options (Yes, Maybe, No) and signing up allows us to gauge interest.

Random Explorable Dungeons will now become Explorable Dungeon Events.

To do this we are setting up the various dungeons in the game on a spectrum list as below:

Week 1: Ascalon Catacombs - Arah
Week 2: Caudecus Manor - Crucible of Eternity
Week 3: Twilight Arbor - Honor of the Waves
Week 4: Sorrow’s Embrace - Citadel of Flames

Saturday Night Sacrifice (WvWvW) will become more organized on our part.

Friday Evenings will be dedicated to Fractals!

Sunday Serg/Karma Event Changes

Sunday Game Night 7PM CST! Though it is our prime focus, Kabal doesn’t just play GW2. To help our members who like to play games beyond the land of Tyria, Sunday night events will feature other fun games. The first Sunday of every month we will play a preselected game; the calendar will detail the event and it will cost you nothing to participate (starting January 6th with Minecraft Classic). The following Sundays in the month will be DOTA 2 nights; the game having a fairly large following within our guild. If you have suggestions for other games that we should consider, please contact us and we’ll add them to the list.

It has been over a month since we made our last announcement and after the release of Chapter 4 and the subsequent changes to the game, the reaction from many of our players and officers in the guild has lead us to re evaluate our stance on our guild in ROM. Chapter 4 has done little to restore the confidence in the game as a whole and many of our members have decided to take a break from ROM.


This combination of events has made it difficult to recruit players to fill the gaps that have been created, both in stat levels as well as in what defines kabal as a guild. Because of these changes and the lack of ability to really control them in the guild's current state, the officers of Kabal have decided that we will be changing the way we treat the ROM branch of our community. As of right now we hold the ROM branch active within a roster and maintain the guild accordingly. We would like to break the mold and allow people to be a part of our community without being forced into the roster if they don’t want to be. With this announcement we would like to clarify a few points:

1. We are not closing the ROM branch. We are simply going to treat it as we treat all other games our community plays.

2. We will not be closing the Kabal guild in ROM. Kabal will always remain open to those who wish to stay in guild - no one will be asked to leave. We know it's an island in a sea of madness for many of you and we would never take that away.

3. If you feel like you want to leave the guild in ROM or leave ROM in general, do not worry. As you have probably heard many times - Once you are Kabal, you are Kabal for life. Regardless of where you are; you are member of Kabal. All our resources are still available to anyone wherever you end up. We have evolved into a community that exists outside of games. Please continue to hang out with us on steam, vent, forums, and in-game (if you need help registering for any of these let us know!). Keep the officers informed in your respective game when problems arise so we can work through them and don’t hesitate to ask for help. Participate in our events and whatever other craziness we get ourselves into. We are always looking into new games to play and other activities outside of ROM and we really want to see you all there. We are also actively looking to make a contact list of email addresses for when GW2 comes out so that we can make sure we're all on the same page when it releases.

4. Before you do anything crazy, make sure you get invites to join the official guild channels in ROM (kabal_united and kabal) so that the community in ROM can remain a close family.

5. The above being said, we will cease active recruitment in ROM. While we wish for players in the guild to keep playing, we feel that at this time we cannot fully support new members in the guild through tutoring them and helping them get statted. Kabal is known for its teaching and helping of new members and if we cannot keep to those standards, we don't want to let down anyone who may be new to the game and wish to join us. However, if you feel like you find someone who you think would really love our community, please direct them to our forums to fill out an application.

This was not an easy decision for any of the officers and we hope that many of you understand why we did this. If you have any questions, suggestions, ideas, etc. please reply to this post or contact an officer in private so we can throw them in the mix and find new and fun ways to keep the Kabal community the way it has always been – amazing!

This is a trial run of the Game Night concept. Minecraft was chosen as the first game because it's easily accessible by most people and doesn't require a download. What?

Minecraft is a sandbox building independent video game. The game is focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. The free version of Minecraft, Classic, is focused entirely on construction with unlimited material supply.


When?

This event will take place on Friday, November 18th, at 7:00 PM CST (8 PM EST, 5 PM PST).


How?

Create your username, enter your password and email address,

Once you enter the server, a small number of game files will be downloaded. If you get any messages about Java needing to update, you can probably ignore them.
You should now be in-game! Move with WASD and jump with space bar. Right click to place blocks, left-click to break blocks, and the scroll wheel / number keys to select your block type and B to open your block menu.

As many of you have seen, Kabal has been in a bit of a slow turn the last few weeks and the officers have been discussing the situation.

Before we start we'd like to clarify a few things :

1. Kabal is not closing/disbanding/turning into a giant chicken, etc. Kabal as a guild has been going since 2007 and none of us are ready to throw in the towel just yet! Kabal isn't going anywhere.

2. Kabal is not moving out of ROM. We are technically the oldest guild in Govinda and we plan to stay that way. Kabal will always have a home in Runes as long as people wish to play it and aren't jerks!

So what is going on? Well that's been harder to pin down... Kabal has always been more of a community than a classic gaming guild. We've been that way since our inception and we will always continue to be so. Many of you have joined our guild because of the environment we have created here. We're high level but not snobbish, we like to progress but we do our best not to leave anyone behind. Kabal is as much a teaching guild as we are a doing guild. And we pride ourselves in doing that.

Due to recent events in RoM, many of our members have been moving into other games to take a break. This happens to many people as they progress through any game, situation etc. Others have been busy with real life issues that have kept them from being as active as they once were and we know that they still wish to be apart of our group even if they are far away now.

This has brought us to view the guild in a new way. Many times we've said that Kabal is not bound by any one game, situation etc. Kabal is community. And we plan to take that to the next level.

So today we are Kabal United. Today we stand not just in ROM, but in Guild Wars, in League of Legends, and whatever other game our members may play. We will continue in all of them the best we can, we will welcome anyone from those games into our community and those who cannot play will, as always, still be welcome in our guild.

Doing this is going shift the way we do things and while we will keep the ROM guild going, there will be growing pains. We are still in discussion exactly how we'll handle this and will bring up more details as we move into this new direction.

But know this, Kabal is here to stay.
