You guys have earned it! These guys have been working hard making videos, Blitz made the YouTube and Gmail account, and 48 has been very constructive on the forums. So congrats!

I'm finally going to make that fancy submit link on Facepunch and add 48's music to the library, along with some other personal picks. If you have any nitpicks with choices, post your opinions here on which you don't like and why. Also, post more demos and videos! Please!

And, right now, I'd recommend that we try and focus on writing some strategy! There's a big fat checklist in the OP of the SPUF and Facepunch threads, and while I think we have covered the gameplay aspects so far pretty well, I think we need to write some guide stuff that we can simplify into points and stick in the video. I'll be writing some stuff soon as well, but right now I have work to do that I've been putting off.

Also, when I start editing, I'll upload the new video to the channel before it's finished for opinions, under unlisted. When I do so, please don't share the link outside this group, the SPUF thread and the FacePunch one.

Alright guys, I've been busy lately, and as a result I haven't been coming here nearly as much as I should. I'm sorry, and I should've been better about it.

Playing Engineer:

General Engineering:
Basic combat skills with the shotgun and pistol is an absolute must. There's no point in being a combat Engineer when your sentry is doing more work than you, because it leaves you vulnerable without a sentry to protect you, which is what we DON'T want.

I suggest working your way up from Family Business Heavy to Shotgun Pyro to Scout. Movement speed increases gradually as damage dealed per shot increases, to hone and reward good aim. Obviously it's the easiest as Family Business Heavy, as you have the slowest speed so aiming is easy, but you don't do a lot of damage so you have to consistently aim well. Moving to pyro increases damage, but movement speed goes up making aim more difficult, and you have less health to cushion bad decisions. Finally Scout prepares you for transitioning to engineer, speed is highest and he has nearly the same arsenal, and you get used to being a "squishy" class and improve aim.

I'd also go over technical tips for improving aim, i.e. aiming for the chest, what mouse settings to use and how to adjust them, etc.

Second, we move to the importance of positoning the sentry and placing it. This would be the time to get factual, such as sentry DPS and the best spots that have the best balance of surprise, exposure to the sentry, and difficulty to destroy. I'd restrict this to level 1 sentries for now, as this is the combat general guide, then diverge into either level 2 and 3 sentries or minisentries as we branch off into the other 2 specialized videos. You don't have to restrict youself, I just mean footage will be about level 1s unless the other sections call for displaying higher levels.

After that, we discuss the use of dispensers. Do you bother upgradng, or no? Also, a balance of spots for dispensers that remain close to the frontlines for teammates but not so close that they get destroyed. I'd save blocking doorways and turtling or making forward bases for the defensive and offensive branches of the guide, respectively.

Then, teleporters. Again, do you bother upgrading? Where are good spots that will balance nearness to the frontlines/usefulness with the chance of the exit being discovered/camped? I'd take this moment to discuss tele use on each of the gametypes, as it varies between how they're used on 5cp versus A/D. Metalsaving, alert systems, and path blocking can be saved for the defensive guide (I'll explain those terms later, I know they sound weird).

After that, build order. Do I build a sentry or tele first? And of the most debate, do I make a dispenser or tele first?

Moving on, I'd cover fighting each class by danger, from least to greatest. Scouts would be at the bottom, then 'd say pyros, then snipers, heavies, soldiers, demomen and spies, medics (fighting off ubers), and engineers (not due to the most dangerous, but just because countering yourself is important).

Finally, I'd move to weapons, and classify each by range (short, mid, long) and role (defense, offense, general, or support). Discuss some key points on each briefly, but save their roles for defense/offense for the other 2 guides.

So that's the gameplan for the general Engineer guide. We then can vote on whether we want to branch off and do defense or offense first, or even split into teams to tackle the branches of engineering.
