Windows 8.1 + NVidia + 4 Monitor

Finally, after a long wait...

With the latest Nvidia Driver update (332.21) the issue of with freezing the UI after trying to access the 4th monitor has been fixed.

The driver seems to be working fine on my setup and has increased performance and stablity in some of the games I had played since installing.

And yes, my 4th monitor works (hurray). I have been running Windows 8.1 on 4 monitor setup for about a week now and have not had any real issues or problems. Everything seems to be working smoothly.

In other words, if this issue had prevented you from updating to 8.1, fear not and go ahead. (well, upon own responsibility of course)

Windows 8.1 update & Surround display

Windows 8.1 is out and any Windows 8 user can update for free. Many reviews encourage the update. BUT...

Well isn't there always a "But". It turns out Windows 8.1 is not good at all if you have a Multi-Monitor set-up. To be more specific, if you run a surround setup and have an additional 4th screen, then you are in for it.

If this fit your profile get ready for a special treat. (Please don't mind my sarcsm, but after spending hours trying to find a solution, only to find out that there is none other than to waste my weekend, formatting my computer...ghrrr..., I believe, I have the right to be sarcastic.)

Once you install Windows 8.1 and finally finished the setup and driver installation, you will want to turn on Surround Display. Well, once you do that you will encounter a very strange bug that will either crash your system or hang it up or (my favorite) when you use the secondary screen (4th monitor) suddenly everything will freeze. Even your keyboard will stop responding. Well, except for the mouse; you can still move the arrow around. You can also click to your hearts content, as long as you don't expect any reaction from your computer.

EVGA and Nvidia said they would look into the issue and provide a fix with the next driver update. But even after installing the new driver, the issue still persists. And the best news is....You can't uninstall the Windows 8.1 upgrade. You must actually re-install Windows 8 from scratch.

A sad performance indeed. Well it is not all bad though, because Windows 8.1 seems to be working like a charm on tablet based computers.

Anyways, to end this with the words of the "Mighty Lorax": ..."YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED"...
