When a game has a DRM you hate, don't buy it!

Instead:

1. Go to the Waiting Room and post your intent to purchase the game if the DRM is removed
   
   
2. Go to DRM Removal Announcements and subscribe to the game's thread to be notified of when the DRM gets removed
   
3. Wait for a notification that the DRM has been removed
   
4. Buy the game*

* if you still want it at that point!


Why do this?

1. Discourage anti-consumer behavior
   
2. Show public discontent with DRM
   
3. Help companies see they are pushing away customers and losing good will
   
4. Help keep up with DRM removals
   
5. Encourage DRM removal with increased sales

DRM is never a good thing for the user.
DRM can give you:

• Broken games when online activations fail
  
  • during first launch
    
  • during periodic re-activations
    
  • whenever the connection fails, if it's always online DRM
• Performance and stability issues
  
• Privacy and security issues
  
• Incompatibility with older or unusual systems
  
• Increased game development costs, due to...
  
  • R&D
    
  • Integration and debugging
    
  • Technology licensing
    
  • Support infrastructure
• Disruptions to game preservation
  
• Increased mod dev difficulty
  
• Mods are more brittle and prone to break with updates
  
• Increasingly abusive business practices

Some simple forms of DRM have a low impact and are easy to tolerate.
Others, like Denuvo, can have a high impact, making them especially detestable.

There is no evidence that using more DRM makes a game more profitable.
CD Projekt Red has taken a stance against DRM, refusing to incorporate it into their products and launching gog.com.
Their success is testament to the futility of DRM.


Some companies keep DRM on their games forever, even after they've been cracked or the game has reached its end of life.
This is most detrimental to the customer and must not be tolerated!
