Server is back up boys!

The server went down around midnight, greatly inconveniencing several players. One player was reportedly even about to get his bone on with an Orion slave girl before the crash. Sadly when the servers went back up at 2:30 AM CST, most of our players had gone to bed - and all of them without slave girls. Gunm, EastX, and Boxcutter logged in and continued to represent the fleet through the wee hours.

You can also send us friend requests through the main Star Trek Online site. On the home page in the lower-right corner there's a Manage Friends option. Send friend requests to just our usernames there - EastX, ValenKorde, and MatthewRex.

The fleet is now setup. We will be fine tuning titles and permissions but if you want to be invited to fleet message Sinclair@ValenKorde or Fai'tin Bonbaa@EastX or Eleven Thirty Eight@Matthew Rex.

Fleet creation is behind schedule thanks to Steam borking up the clients. Apologize to everyone for that, not really much we can do about it. A lot of people who used steam had to redownload nad repatch.

Once you get characters created, post the name here so I can add you to my friends list. Will make things quicker on making the fleet initially. After that in-game invites will be easier once the fleet is made.

Doesn't look like I'm doing anything for a while. Both steam and non-steam are trying to run huge patches. I know Mysterio complained about the steam version running a patch but I'm not sure why the regular one is after I was using it earlier today. I left it running before I left the house for a while and it had crapped out on running the update.

Only can be a member of one fleet per character. Later gives more people time to be logged in. We can't create the fleet until we have 5 people in a team in game. Kinda stupid if you ask me. I started at 1PM EST (10AM PST) but the game crashed and it took them an hour to fix it. Then I couldn't access the borg character until about 20 minutesago so yeah. I wasn't motivated. I thought the fleet wasn't going to be formed until the event tonight? Can you be in more than one fleet or do you need a different character per fleet? I've been playing with Gamers With Jobs all day. Funny they started at noon and the first event for CAG is evening ;)

Be careful if you purchased the game on Steam. Closing Steam, launching Steam, and then launching the game through Steam will cause Steam to download the ENTIRE 10 GB client AGAIN. Steam really dropped the ball on this one. I'm currently downloading the Steam STO client for a seond time, and have yet to enter the game. So far, I'm enjoying my first 2 hours with STO!

Can't seem to log in right now.

Well, we have to get a group of 5 people together in a team in-game then we will be able to create the fleet. Problem is right now, I can't login or anything. I made it to the loading of the tutorial and it just died. Once I have my character created and otu of tutorial i will be posting the name on this page. If they don't fix the servers though we may not be able to do the fleet creation tonight.

I've been running the STO patcher from time-to-time for just that reason! Great minds think alike!

FYI - I recommend running the STO patcher tonight and tomorrow morning to get all "pre-patch" stuff so that when things go live at 1pm (EST) you will be a bit ahead of the game.

No extra fees, so feel free to use it through paypal all the time. Unless it's an e-tailer like Amazon, I would always use paypal where available.

Great minds think alike! In the past, I've had to use PayPal to pay (via credit card) for some purchases on Steam, since it wouldn't accept my VISA card for some reason. So, I'd just pay with the same credit card, but through PayPal.

I was waiting to hear if others have had issues with Cryptic before I tried that with my AE card via PayPal. As expected, it worked! There's no extra fee paying with a credit card via PayPal, is there, as opposed to paying directly with a credit card? It's just more secure, right? If so, I should always use PayPal if available, no?

I didn't purchase after beta ended, I think I bought on Monday. I went through Paypal because I figured it was more secure. Try that?

Has anyone else been able to purchase the lifetime sub after beta ended? American Express shows $1 pre-authorization charges on my account from Cryptic, but Cryptic's website keeps telling me my card's been denied.

No, I'm pretty sure they came to the Starbase to attack it :) The idea I suspect was to bring the Borg into play to "unite" us in a common goal. Unfortunately, "target nearest enemy" includes Klingons!

I don't think the klingons were attacking the Starbase, weren't they coming to help erradicate the borg?

Was anyone in the game when the Klingons tried attacking the Earth starbase? This was sometime around 2pm pst.

I agree that the uniforms will be purchaseable in the Cryptic store later. I think the most predominant bonuses (asides from the best one from Amazon) are the Joined Trill from the Deluxe Edition and the health regenerating shield from D2D. I never found a shield that regenerated my health (I did find armor that did that). So that will be nice initially. I will be trying to get my steam ID as my in-game name like I did in beta. We'll see if that pans out.

The real Steam preorder bonus is the Chromoodynamic Armor, you know. The TOS uniforms come with the digital deluxe version, which several places sell. I got it from Steam. WestX got it from Amazon. Getting my girlfriend's copy at BestBuy 'cause she likes the animals.

Hey everyone. I'm wondering where everyone pre-ordered their game. I went with amazon because it seems that the Borg bridge officer is the best perk. Gamestop's ship seems cool but is only useable during lvls 1-10. I was considering Steam, but I'm guessing the TOS uniforms are going to be available as microtransactions in the near future.

For people who are concerned about multitasking or just want to make the game easier to play, consider the Logitech G13 peripheral - $68 at Amazon.
A cheaper but less highly-reviewed alternative is the Saitek Cyborg Command Unit for $35.

I've learned that the hardest part of playing this game is being able to multi-task everything. I find myself wanting other people playing on my ship to help me manage it all. If you think about it, you'll (probably) end up with 4 powers for at least 4 bridge officers. That's 16 powers, not to mention the ones that you get as a Captain. Then you have the weapons, maneuvering, power distribution, and shield power re-distribution. I'm already getting overwhelmed with my Commander level ship. I'm a little scared of an Admiral level one. Ground combat is pretty manageable though and I'm enjoying it. Probably because the AI handles his own ♥♥♥♥! What do you guys think so far?

I am waiting for launch to play more now.

Well my account name in game is ValenKorde and my characters and ships will have variations on that. My Klingon character will probably be named Setak Korde and fed will be Altera Korde. Ship names are Valen and Starfury. Mixing my sci-fi shows in perfect harmony.

I'll probably get on as early as possible the day of the head-start though. I want to get out of the tutorial area as quickly as possible.

I'm MST, so the time may be a little early for me, but I should be on within a couple hours of that time.

Now I've gotta figure out a name. I just used the random generator for my beta characters...
