So after badgering Sundance enough we have finally got the free mumble server offered with the Chiv server.

Mumble is a nice alternative to Teamspeak and Ventrilo and is a lot more open (and less resource heavy.) The setup should be very simple for such computer savvy gents as yourselves but if you are having issues, send me a message on Steam friends.

Why haven't I been included?

By expanding the admin list we are taking a risk, that could backfire and kill the server (if people aren't joining what's the point in having it.) So we are gently expanding it one name at a time. The reason we don't want to make everyone admin just yet is because if we do that and get reports someone was abusing their admin it makes it harder to know who is the culprit. The primary reason for giving the admin password to more people is to try to ensure there is someone on the server able to administrate it at all times of the day so one of the reasons you may have been left off is because you play at a time when someone else with admin is playing.

Admin Commands and their use/how to do stuff.

Kicking and banning can be handled through the scoreboard, simply log in, open the scoreboard, press b and select the person you want rid of, and hit kick or ban in the admin options section. Unfortunately the latest patch requires you to confirm it will a console command but this is going to be patched back to normal next patch. The confirm kick/ban command is as follows: confirmban/confirmkick 0 0 "<REASON>" - the two numbers dictate two things that I can't remember but they have to be there. Essentially that is a perma ban.

adminlogin <password> - This is the command to log into admin, <password> is replaced with the password (in case you are thick.) To log in stealthily, simply log in as soon as the map loads - before people have picked classes, that way they don't see the "blah blah has logged in as administrator." comment. The reason for doing this, is to surprise people with bans before they can disconnect and avoid them.

maplist - lists all the maps the server can load.

adminchangemap aocffa-arena3 - use any of the level codes you can see when typing maplist, you can see the gamemode in the prefix aocXXX

adminrestartmap - restarts the current map.

admincancelvote - cancels the current vote

aoc_slomo <value between 0.01-2> - changes the game speed, default is 100% or 1. Slomo is anything between 0.01 and 1 but try to stick with anything above 0.5. Over 1 is faster, this causes the server to lag at higher numbers so if you do dabble with this command, only do fast speeds for a few seconds/minutes at a time. When changing the speed bare in my the wishes of the server and if people get pissed off or begin to leave in massive numbers, change it back to 1 and inform them that it only feels weird at 1 because their brains need to adjust back. ALWAYS CHANGE THE SPEED BACK TO 1 BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE SERVER.

adminchangeteam <playername> - This can serve as a kill command as, if the target person is alive, it will kill them to teamswitch them. This command is useful for evening the teams on team play or trolling a really obnoxious player. Please bear in mind, that you have to type the full name of the individual for it to work and a lot of peoples names will be untypable because of the special characters they use.

Over the past few months me and Sundance have made many friends on this server (as you know) but not all of these friends are in this clan. As a rule of thumb, do not kick anyone from: [DT] or RK. Friends of the server include: Anone in DT or RK, Eternal Prosititute, Helm, w-miller, Master Bard. Mortii, Must4rd Tiger, Speedwagon [JakeX], The Entire Kingdom of Denmark, The Dandy Ape and HKpro. There are a few others whose names I forget, but you will probably recognise them anyway. Don't ban that Prince kid who says ridiculous insults all the time, kinda like him.

Right, I want to type more but some cunt is killing me in Chiv and Gaembesh is trying very hard to save me whilst I stand here afk.

Given the server's popularity it stands to reason that we should form a proper admin team rather than just have me and sundance drunkenly pawing at the controls to remove troublesome types and quell the barbarians at the gates.

The people who are given it are expected to administrate the server in accordance with the rules laid out below. My friends list is full of regulars and quiet types alike that frequent the server at various times of day so if you're going to abuse it, just be aware that it will get back to me.

Now, this sounds all very official and over the top considering it's just a game, but bear in mind this server costs a lot to rent and we want to get our money's worth - getting our money's worth essentially is ensuring that the server is as full as it can be at all times - we pay by the slot!

So, the rules:

1.No Racism, Sexism, Homophobia - or any other kind of bullshittery is tolerated on the server - you are expect as an admin to enforce this.

2. Dealing with Votekickers - A reason must be provided for a votekick. If a votekick is initiated and no valid or obvious reason had been given, you are to log into admin, cancel the vote and ascertain the reasoning and then once the facts are clear, decide whether the kick is necessary or not. If it was, kick the individual, if it was not necessary, kick the person who initiated the votekick. If someone has initiated a votekick purely out of spite, warn them that they will be permanently banned if they continue such actions.

3. Dealing with assholes - We like the server to be a calm and peaceful place. Drama in chivalry escalates quickly, and the quickest way to minimize it is to keep an eye on and get rid of the assholes. For example, people who punctuate every death with some kind of vitrollic comment or hateful slur. People who pick fights verbally and people who just act like cunts. Ban trolls immediately, do not get into an arguement with them, just move swiftly and without a huge fanfare.

4. Map Changes - Generally you can change the map to whatever map you choose, but please do bear in mind a few things:
- Some maps empty the server, people hate them so much, anything King of the Hill or CTF generally empties the server.
- Whilst being an admin gives you privellages others don't have, do try to poll the server and see what the general consensus is amongst the players before you change the map.
- Don't change the map in the middle of the game. If changing at the end, wait for it to actually finish and declare a winner before your change the map. Generally speaking don't change the map if there has been more than 2 minutes of play time on it - it's not fair on people who have settled into it.
- Please bear in mind the map rotation when changing a map, when you change the map, it postpones the rotation. So if you are on ffa-throneroom, ffa-arena3 is up next, but if you change the map from thronesroom to say, ffa-stoneshillvillage, once stoneshill has finished the map will change to arena3 like it was going to before you tampered with it. Try to avoid having a map repeat within 2 or 3 rounds of itself.

5. Teaming is allowed, make sure people know it - try to explain to them in a polite manner that teaming is allowed. Remind them, that there are many other FFA servers out there and they are under no obligation to play here. Tell the that the rule regarding teaming is not up for discussion and to either put up with it or leave - also encourage them to bring their friends along to team.

6.Give people a chance - Sometimes a persons intentions and actions paint them in one light but infact the truth is something completely different. Stick up for people, give them a chance to correct their behaviour but be resolute in your actions should they not heed your advice.
