A hard support (AKA "The 5") is the player who shouldn't need items to play well. Because of this, the hard support's job is to collect wards and place them excessively, buy dust/gem, buy smoke, buy town portal scrolls, and purchase/upgrade the courier. Feel like you have sucky items? Thats fine! If you spend every ounce of gold on consumables, then you are helping your team more than the hard carry. If you have any gold, make sure that you have succeeded your support role before buying for yourself. To those who don't play hard-support, remember to thank them. They are generally what keep you alive and farming. They are completely dedicated and you must acknowledge that, or we would hardly have ANY support players.
