only a couple of hours after the final station of the defence grid was down the massive blockade fleed of the VDF jumped in and locked down earth, all ship were forced to retreat to low orbit to dodge platinum shells. during that time, the VDF had deployed a small incusion troop to secure the landing zone. however the relative peace of the troop was interupted as a paris class frigate opened fire on them, forcing the pilot to evade and release his pods and escort fighter. the fighter was quicky taken out and the corvete finaly managed to land a hit after a couple of shots. the damage was massive and the ship was torn apart. however, the pilot managed to regain control and in a final act of defiance, flung the front of the ship into one of the walls of the nearby UEE outpost.

the troops landed somewhere in the desert, and quicky reunited as the orbital fleet droped them their contigent of companion drones. after a few minutes the troops spoted the outpost and decided to engage it to secure a landing zone. the ODSTs aproached the base and used their high powered laser to take out the anti air turrets, allowing an prism bomber to join the fight. this rare and expensive bomber is designed to fire plasma torpeodes at an alarming rate using a technology the VDF call "the sequencer". this is an even rarer sight than the menoitos destroyer, as this craft is only produced for very high ranking members of the VDF.

together with the help of the bomber, the VDF troops leveled the outpost, and built their own, opening a breachead in the defences. now, the VDF generals are pretty sure that they only require one additional data point from another outpost to be able to triangulate the position of the UEE main base

once again the skies of earth lighted with fire and explosions as the VDF fleet clashed again with the UEE. the civilians of shanghai were looking at the skies, trying to understand what was going on up here. at first, the distinctive yellow-ish detonation of a VDF destroyer filled the crowd with joy. but their happiness was cut short after a tragic announcement: shanghai had to be evacuated NOW!

the reason was simple, the VDF managed with a couple of elite fighters to fend off the rest of the ships and board the now weakened station. however, the VDF did not found what they were looking for on the destroyed mac station. so, the order was given to de orbit it.

the population was barely evacuated as the burning station crashed into the city, waves of flames and destruction ravaged the business center and the space elevator was damaged beyond repair. for now, no civilian casualties were reported thanks to the UEE fast intervention. however, the damage is massive and the city will probably take years to reconstruct, once the radioactivity from the station reactor has been contained.

but the VDF wasn't done this time. in a matter of minutes they arranged another fleet and jumped above the US defence grid.

the UEE has been expecting this assault, and had rigged the mac station to engage any large ship signature. their goal was, once again, to take on the destroyer that usually drop with the fleet. but as the massive mac cannon lined up on the signature, it had a weird surprise. the ship was not a warship, but an unarmed dropship (which was reduced to rubble by the station shortly after).

however, this was all but a trick to hide the real threat, carried by the ship were a contingent of fighters and a couple of breach pods, designed for this specific assault. as the fighters distracted the two defence platforms, the pods successfully breached the outer armor and dropped troops inside the station. the UEE managed to score a lot of kills but they were not able to manage a bombardment and a boarding operation at the same time. the mac station respawn bays were quicly taken out, as well as the main generator and secondary guns. and once the last UEE ship was destroyed, the VDF fleet almost immediately warped away. the UEE obviously sent a fleet to recapture the mac station. but when they arrived, their sensors only picked up debris: the mac station was gone. not destroyed, gone.

it was sighted back above mars near one of the many VDF shipyards, being dissected to recover any useful information about it. one of the things the VDF is the most proud off s that they managed to secure a super mac intact from the station, and should be able to learn a lot from it.

however, the UEE has not yet lost. even if their grid is down, they still have their main base online, and even if the VDF managed to dominate in orbit, they still have to prove their worth on the ground.

as for the VDF, the massive morale boost coming from the capture of the mac station is giving the soldiers the hope for a quick victory. the VDF war machine is now spinning full force, producing new equipment for their soldiers in preparation for the impending ground assaults.
