Yes, I'm doing this.

And yes, this is quite an unconventional tournament, but hey, it makes things interesting!


Okay, so on to the basics. Realm of the Mad God (often abbreviated as RotMG) is a free light RPG-shmup ("shoot-em-up") of sorts that's on Steam as well. It's pretty fun, and well, after the Frozen Synapse tournament, I thought of something interesting to do involving a tournament for this game, and well, I think I'll try it out.

There are around 14 (I may have that number wrong but it's close to that amount) classes to choose from in the game. Each one has a number of tactics to use to reach level 20, which is the maximum level, and also a number of varying items to help them get there.

This tournament will be to try and get to level 20 (the max level) as fast as you can. You can practice all you want at the game of course but for the purpose of this tournament you can NOT use any items from your vault that you obtain on other characters so that everyone has a fair chance even if they're new to the game (which many of you participating may be).

You can use any class and do your leveling speedrun whenever you want, granted I'm online as I need to have you "locked" (it's the game's friend system, it lets you see what items someone has and what level they are) while you do it so I can make sure you're not cheating. I'm online all day every day pretty much unless I'm busy, as I'm a student and right now we have summer break so that's pretty nice.

You will only get 1 official try unless something happens and you have to leave during the attempt. I'll time each attempt from when you get into a world with your fresh level 1 character to the time you get to level 20.

I SHOULD be able to get it very close right after you hit level 20 but in the event of a tie or two people's very close times, you will have to do another attempt at it as I don't want to be unfair by saying someone won if the 2nd place person was 0.001 seconds off and I might've ended their timer too late.
