A tree over 1,000 years old, chosen as one of the three greatest cherry trees in Japan and recognized as a natural monument.

This enormous cherry tree, called the Takizakura (“Waterfall Cherry Tree”), is recognized as one of the three greatest trees in Japan and was the first cherry tree to be designated a natural monument. During the blooming season in April, it blossoms in beautiful cascades of millions of delicate pink petals, just like water flowing down a waterfall.
