SMAC - have a great philosophic content, rare in modern games.

I got plenty time for smac in the next days.

Check the off-steam forums, problem is that nobody got time for sequential playing. Beyond Earths simultanius rounds are a good start but the game itself lacks compared to SMAC

Does anyone still play SMAC? I've never played a multiplayer game on this before and would love to play.

Actually I played it with all the expansions... I guess I'm just bugged out by the one unit per tile limit => less units => less towns => smaller empire.... or so at least it feels like...

but as that development won'T stop or reverse I'll prolly pick up Beyond Earth too...

Have you played civ5 with the expansion Brave New World? It's a really good game now. Beyond Earth probably will have a terrible start again, like most Firaxis games, but I'll give it a chance for sure, at least when it's on sale.

Civilization Beyond Earth seems interesting at first but anyone that likes SMAC or Civ4 will realize that this is just a scifi themed clone of Civ5 which in turn is a simplified (stupid) version of smac and civ4...

Does anyone know how to get the steam overlay to work with the GoG version of Alpha Centauri?

I would throw my money at Steam if they released Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire on here. I still own my actual CD copy but wouldn't mind owning it on here as well just to keep everything together and not have to mess around with finding my disc.

so... just wondering.. I can't get the multiplayer to work online... anyone got it to work with anything? hamachi, gameranger, by itself...

The best thing to happen would be a _well made_ SMAC sequel. No dumbing down, no tending to the casual customer.

Reasons: Great game, runs on any computer, highest scoring game reviews ever in pcgamer magazine, needs better online support, never had a remake, may favorite game as teenager.
