Ever since the closure of the gamespy servers, we, the rtw1 community, have been extremely grateful to steam, for their continued support in keeping the multiplayer aspect of rome alive. They patched a 10 yr old game to make it compatible with their servers and for this we are very much indebted to them.

However, though we are indeed grateful for this support, we are all aware, that there are significant lag and glitch issues associated with the new steam platform. 3v3 are laggy, yes they really are, and, well, 4v4 what can be said, in my opinion unplayable.Time and has passed, and, it has become clear these problems are set to stay.

Now is the time, to take it upon ourselves, to solve this problem associated with larger games on steam. There is already a solution out there, GAME RANGER, we need to take advantage of this much better platform. Myself, and fellow members of TITANS, GREEK, COH clan played the very first 4v4 31k battle on game ranger today. The game was just as easy to set up as it was on steam, but most importantly it was LAG FREE. This battle will be posted on youtube in the coming days.

As a community we must embrace game ranger. No one is saying do not play Steam, infact I say play both, but simply use game ranger for larger games, and keep steam for smaller games, 3v3 or less. Certainly keep using the communication aspect of steam and the lobby of course, they are very useful indeed.

But we must be smart about this. Who wants to play with that lag, not me! So lets all welcome this, give it a chance, it's free nothing to lose, everything to gain

Since the last update we have been able to get more signatures, however we still need another 18 names before we reach the 100 target. Please keep on sending the petition around to get more signatures and/or refering to this steam group for support. Well done everyone this is already a great achievement!!

We should get more high denari games started on Game Ranger. Possibly use the same password each time to make it easier. Need some input here let me know what you think?
