Late last year, mojang introduced the Exploration Update[www.mojang.com]: Minecraft 1.11! It’s been a long time coming, but QuixolMC has finally updated to this version of minecraft. (Sorry for the delay btw, things got ahead of us a bit but we hope two more days wasn’t too long of a wait!)

We’ve changed a lot of things in this update, a few of which we’ve already talked about, and a few things we have yet to even unveil.

For this update, we have generated a new world which is named “protos”. It is a vanilla 1.11 world, and it has a circular border with a radius of 12,000 blocks. We advise anyone who’s unfamiliar with the changes to the vanilla game check out mojang’s news posts about both 1.11 as well as 1.10, the Frostburn Update[mojang.com], because we skipped updating to 1.10 entirely!

When you login to the server, if you have been online before you will be placed where you logged out at last. All of your items, builds, sethomes, factions and other various data should still be where they are in the old world, just as you left them. However, when you enter the new world, you will have a separate inventory that you cannot share with the old world. If you ever become confused about which world you are in, you may simply press tab and see- if it says “world” then you are in the old world, if it says “protos” then you are in the new world.

For those wishing to get started in the new world, we have moved Orsus to the new world, and you may get there using /spawn . We have also created new “far” warps, which you can access using /warp north , /warp south, /warp east, or /warp west . Alternatively, you may use the button in the information center at Orsus to teleport somewhere randomly in the world. We also recommend using /kit tools for those that are not new players, so you have something to start you out with.

At the moment, we do not have any other warps or locations set up in the world of Protos- we have yet to build a new shopping area, nor a place to party and put your item donations. We also have yet to setup the newly revamped economy, so there is no way to make money on the server for the time being, although we have many ideas for how to approach this in the future. There’s a lot of things missing at the moment, and a lot of things we need to fix- we’ve already run across several bugs in this update, most critically the fact that nether portals don’t work! We’re working hard to fix all this stuff and make a great server environment for you all to play on, so please try to be patient as much of the staff is a bit overwhelmed with life in addition to working on the server.

This period of “Public Beta” could go on for some time, possibly months, and in this time we plan to update and change many things on the server. We hope that things won’t be too confusing for you guys and we’re going to try to keep you as updated as possible on all the new things coming and going.

Hey all! It’s been a long, long while- several months- since minecraft 1.11 was released. QuixolMC has, sadly, been a bit neglected in the time since then… Much of the staff has been busy with life or just feeling a bit down and out. However, we’re looking to move past that, and into a new era for Quixol- the 1.11 update!

For a long while, QuixolMC has been in the phase loosely called “1.9.4 Public”, which began June 18th, 2016. Before that, in order, was: 1.9.2/4 Open Beta (4/11/16), 1.8 Open Beta (12/18/15), 1.8 Closed Beta (11/16/15). These phases correspond to large changes to the server / how it is operated.

With that being said, we anticipate we will be updating the server to minecraft version 1.11.2 by Friday, March 24th - about 2 weeks from now! This will bring in a new era on QuixolMC, which will be known as “1.11.2 Public Beta”. Yay!

We should warn that there may be a period of up to a week beforehand where the server will be whitelisted to staff-only so that we may work on things (and let the new world generate). We will be taking the server down to update on Sunday, March 19th. We apologize in advance for the long downtime, but we promise it will be worth it in the end!

As for the details of the update, we cannot give anything too definitive of what to expect yet, other than we ARE going to be generating a new world (as well as a new nether and end world), and mcMMO stats as well as any shells you’ve made will be reset (sorry). We will be keeping the old world available, so none of your builds or things in the current world will be affected by the update, and you may keep playing in the old world for the foreseeable future.

A word of caution, this update process to 1.11 may be a bit rocky, and not all the new features and stuff we wanted to have ready for the server will be polished or perfect. Please try to bear with us as we try to get the ball rolling again! We know how much the server updating means to you all, so we figure it’d be best not to delay it any further even if it means certain things being wonky.

One fateful day, a year ago today, a small minecraft server first opened its doors for people to join. One year later, Quixol is still going strong!

We’d like to thank everyone who attended the party tonight on QuixolMC. It was a bit humble, but hopefully that is okay with you all. It was nice to see everyone again and share some fun games/music!

We have a lot of things planned for november/december, like updating the server to minecraft 1.11! Keep your eyes peeled everyone!

It turns out a year is a really long time. 365 days, they tell us. As it turns out, this wednesday, November 16th, will have been exactly one year since QuixolMC first began to allow players to join the server!

To celebrate this momentous day, we’re planning on having a rather humble event on QuixolMC to celebrate one year of Quixol. There will be a drop party as well as player promotions!

Truth be told, a lot of our staff has not been able to keep up with running Quixol recently… Many of us have school or work (or BOTH) to worry about, and don’t really have a lot of motivation to work on stuff in minecraft… Regardless, our passion for the community is as high as ever, so we won’t be flaking on this. It may not be the biggest event ever but we’ll be glad to see you all again. Just seeing people show interest in Quixol provides some motivation for, so we hope to see many of you there!

The event will begin at around 3 PM (PST) / 6 pm (EST) on wednesday, 11/16.

A wednesday is an odd day for us to have an event, so we hope that it works out well enough for you all. Hope to see you there everybody!
