Hello everyone,

Two years ago I resolved to provide weekly updates about things going on in/around Ohio and I know it got annoying, so last year I resolved to not do that as much... and I barely ever did it.

This year I'm thinking monthly stuff.

I really think Ohio can be a great place for fair and equal treatment for all peoples of all walks of life so in 2022 year make sure you go out and vote (if eligible), it'll be a really big deal as we're a really big swing state. I will provide registration and status information as the time grows nearer for those things.

In the last year the state passed the new budget bill for 2022-2024, included in it was an attempted clause that would have prohibited municipal internet (this clause was stricken),

That said many communities in Ohio did get approved funding from the federal infrastructure bill, as such you should write your municipalities (check your city's gov't web page) and ask or support the idea of municipal internet (as this is the only way the state that had the FIRST CONSUMER INTERNET PROVIDER ON THE PLANET will ever compete with consumer level internet again. We have fiber lines all over the state but most of us can't get fiber internet or speeds, I can WALK to where a line is buried outside my own neighborhood but no fiber is available to me.)

Unfortunately what did pass in the bill was a clause unrelated to budget at all, the right of any healthcare provider to refuse treatment for personal beliefs. This unfortunately disproportionately affects minorities and the LGBTQIA+ community, and directly goes against the Hypocratic Oath. This is a BAD THING.

In some lighter and admittedly self-promotion news, I released a stupid little mobile game for Android. I actually do have a registered business in the state of Ohio so just downloading it means supporting Ohio business :-)

Well, I think I did a great job throughout the year realizing how much I can annoy you all by trying to do weekly updates here. Monthly didn't work out too well for me in the last couple of months either.

But I figured today would be a great day to throw up a post because today the OSU Buckeye Football Team is playing Clemson for a shot at the NCAA National Championship.

Personally I still feel the NCAA Playoff system is pretty much a joke and needs to be completely overhauled (we basically still have the same stupid bowl system with a faux "playoff" IMO, but it doesn't mean this game won't be exciting.)

Tonight at 8:00 PM the teams face off, it looks like broadcast will be ESPN, if not ESPN for local it'll be on the local ABC station, so Go Buckeyes!

Next thing, I know the majority of events and items I posted were about the Columbus area, but that's because that's where I live and where I know the most news, if you have news about your area in Ohio let me know I'll post it!

That said, here's some Columbus Gaming News, Game Arena (in Hilliard, Ohio), has done well enough that they are opening a new location on High Street near OSU Campus, actual address not published yet, but they did post about it happening on their Facebook page (they keep this the most up to date if you're wondering about them.)

Last thing, Happy Holidays & New Year! Hopefully in the next year I can be less annoying overall, but I still want to TRY to engage with this community! We have a few people that are periodically active in our chat, but I also have a personal community I maintain + a streaming schedule + a regular job + maintaining my house (I'm a busy guy!)

Still, if anyone becomes aware of any events that may be relevant to our community, feel free to let me know via a forum post (I still check here pretty regularly) and I'll try to update the event schedule as I can (as I did this year.)

Go check out Insurgency: Sandstorm (search in the store) there's a new hardcore checkpoint mode, it's unforgiving and a lot of fun!

Yeah lots of news here I'm sure you're all aware of, some publishers didn't know Epic was going to run a sale, pulled their games, Epic Bought Psyonix, Rocket league will be exclusive sales to it eventually (but still supported on Steam).
