Hi @everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closure of the Star Wars Rp Server. This decision has not come lightly. After lengthy discussion with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Staff, Event Director and Development Team we have decided to shut the server down. I expect that some of you will not be happy with this decision however the server numbers have shown a declining trend over the past two weeks. We are currently averaging 20 players a day and rather have the server slowly die we have concluded that closing is the most appropriate thing to do.

During the remainder of this month, we will be hosting two Final events to give the server the send off it deserves.

The reasons for this decision can be broken down into the following:

1. The interest in Garys Mod as a game is no longer there, the majority of our player base, staff, army etc are interested in playing other games. This means there is a lack of interest in the server and the game itself. There has been some discussion around the Era being Stale and Events being uninteresting. Ultimately however we believe that the player base sees Garrys Mod as a secondary game. Down the road we cannot see numbers recovering despite the investment we have put into it.
2. The ultimate cost of running the server is £70 a month, we (the owners) have invested £100 each in the server at the very beginning. We then paid Quack our first developer to work on the server as well as £114 of Gmod store addons. We have then also purchased the £150 package for WiltOS, paid Vulthar to develop the Imperial Knights/Sith, skill trees etc. After this we then paid Development costs to Sloth to produce the 2.0 update in the hopes this would revitalise the player base – unfortunately this has not been the result. Regardless of the tremendous support from our player base and the donations they have provided us with, these outgoings have provided us with very little left to keep the server running. We (The owners) have not made a profit or seen a return on investment. With the player base dwindling and infrequent store purchases we can no longer support the cost of keeping the server open.

3. There is a prevalence of burn out amongst our player base, army and staff which is harming the recruitment of new members to the server. Without new members the server cannot grow and sustain itself.

We have thoroughly enjoyed playing both in and out of RP and we really appreciate the effort that all players, from the trooper to the commanders that have helped make the server a success until now.

The server will be shutdown as of midnight and will be reopened Monday and Tuesday for the two final events.

The discord itself will be redone and all Star Wars Rp Channels will be archived. Discord Ranks will be grouped to cause less clutter.
Finally donation ranks will be split into 3 tiers with small bonuses given to each tier. More information on this to be released soon.

We will continue to Stream 3-4 days a week doing youtube content here and there and monthly game nights when and if the numbers provide it. We have no immediate future plans for any future servers but we recommend that you stay in this Discord to stay connected to old community friends and to stay in the loop of any future projects.
