In what surely some detractors will consider a wholly expected situation, it appears Prophet will not be active in the development of ML in the near future.

As has been previously stated if I recall, I have been a real life friend of him for well over a decade now. As of about 4pm today, I recieved a rather cryptic Facebook message concerning his personal life and situation, which I will not explain further - there is still such a thing as privacy after all.

Following that, it appears his FB profile has been either disabled or deleted. So, other than the statement that he will be offline for a while, I have no more information than anyone else.

What does that mean for Martial Law? Well, I would love to say that I am taking over the reigns and continuing to build the game. However, my programming knowledge is firmly rooted in the late 80s and early 90s - if ML were built in GWBASIC, we'd be golden. I can still write BASIC code and batch files as if they were English.

However, at this point I know nothing. Prophet could be back in 2 hours after sorting some things out. He could be back in 3 years. I don't know.

As of right now, I highly recommend (and I firmly believe Prophet would have said this, had he been in the frame of mind to do so) that anyone within the refund period take advantage of said refund.

To those who are not - I know that should it prove possible at any point, Prophet will continue to develop ML - this project is the thing I have seen him most passionate about in the 14 or so years I have known him.

Secondarily, should I somehow get up the gumption to learn Unity and all the associated jazz, I would be glad to continue the development - but I think Hell will have frozen over before that happens.

I will keep the community posted of any news.

I am your new fiendish neighborhood moderator.

As you can tell from my Steam profile, I have been lurking around Steam since the beginning, and the internets in general for a very long time.

That means I am thick-skinned, and having run a metric whackton of guilds, organizations, and forums, I am both fair and mentally unbalanced enough to help Prophet (a long-time personal friend on mine IRL) with this group, since he is (rightly) spending most of his time actually developing the game.

Since the members of this group have been so far nice, amiable people, you won't see any draconian rules of conduct or mass banhammering - indeed, if I swung the banhammer as hard as I did in my Anarchy Online guild forum, there would be a negative number of members.

In fact, it is my intention to NEVER ban anyone, nor kick anyone out of the group for anything but the most grievous things. You know, the stuff in the Steam TOS - racial slurs, political rhetoric (yes, I realize that the concept of ML has some political connotations, but those are open to interpretation and debate - a debate that we will NOT have here....), religion, and everything else that you know better than to partake in.

So, in other words, nothing will change - I will answer any and all questions that I am able to, and will forward anything that I can't answer to Prophet, and nag him incessantly until it gets answered.

That is all.

Just picked up the game. It's about time a game like this was put into active development. And for Linux too (be still my heart!).

Anyway, if the community/developers need any firearms consulting, I'd be more than happy to help. My profession is deep within the firearms industry (notably military/police firearms as well as 3-gun competition).

I don't know everything, and hate to be labeled a "firearms expert" because I still try to learn every-day. I shoot a lot, live in Montana and have been in the industry for almost ten years now, and prior to that was a Readiness/Disaster Preparedness troop in the U.S. Air Force.

I am not asking anything in return, I just want to support this project in any way the developers find me useful. This game has immense potential and since my two passions are firearms and gaming (more specifically, Linux Gaming), I would be glad to contribute whatever is of use.
