Thuringia is a german state, in the heart of Germany! It was ruled by the Wettiner, which also ruled about Saxony. But it was a great state of culture e.g. Goethe, Schiller, Brentano, Schlegel and Novalis lived and worked here in Thuringia, they were all very important german writers but also academics!
