If you are a normal person, then you will be looking forward to the excitement that is L4D. If you are an extraordinary person, with excellent social skills and a good endowment, you've probably been playing the demo.



I have written some tips and tactics for those who want to suck the spontaneity out of the game, or play it properly.



Tips for L4D:
-When a Boomer pukes on a player, that player needs to head into a corner. Zombies won’t attack the other three while there’s a player that has the vomit on them, so the other three need to be a barrier and take out the horde. The player with vomit on them should be very careful if he fires, as he is visually impaired and could hit teammates.


-Firing a shotgun at and advancing horde can easily reduce their numbers, but don’t fire indiscriminately; it’s better to pick your shots for maximum damage, often if you time it right, you have time to reload between shots. This comes from the fact that the shotgun rounds so easily kill one zombie and go straight through into the Z behind.


-Areas like rooms need to be cleared as quickly as possible. The easiest way to do this with two guys is for the first player to enter and kill as many as possible. If that player manages to kill all zombies in the room, that player should reload while the second guy covers . If, however, all zombies aren’t dead by the time the first player is out of rounds, he should retreat and switch to his pistol, BUT NOT FIRE, and allow the second player to kill the remaining zeds. These tactics allow for a quick, effective room clearance, but also, at no time are both players firing: this saves ammo (because you never shoot the same zombie) and also it greatly lowers the risk of friendly fire incidents. This tactic also allows for two teams to clear rooms at the same time.


-When moving in exterior areas, move as a dynamic line. The first and second player should alternate between firing and reloading (the one in front fires, the one behind reloads). The rearmost player covers the back, and the remaining player helps both the front guys and the rear guy, depending on the situation.


-Do not heal until your health starts counting down. There is no need.


-Killing Tanks is not as easy as it looks. As soon as you hear one, you need to retreat. A Tank will down you with one hit and kill you with the next. The best tactic to take one out is to get some distance between you and the Tank and take him down from range. Generally, the Tank will go after one of the 4, so that person should try and act as a decoy to give the other three an opportunity to kill the Tank. Remember to aim for the legs.
