James Robert (Jim Bob) Cooter is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Tennessee, and has since coached for his alma mater, the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Denver Broncos before being hired by the Lions.

Cooter is from Fayetteville, Tennessee. He was arrested in 2009 on an aggravated burglary charge after getting into bed with a woman by climbing through a window of her Fort Sanders apartment.
