As a fan of the Civilization series, I am concerned about the inclusion of Muscovy (Russia) in Civilization VII. This decision could legitimize imperialistic and anti-Western narratives that contradict democratic values and pose risks to U.S. national security. Russia actively uses cultural platforms to spread disinformation, and its history, rooted in aggression, colonization, and repression, should not be romanticized.
For many players, Civilization is a source of historical education. Idealizing Muscovy as a "heroic" civilization risks misleading younger generations. Additionally, the inclusion of the "Cossack" unit is problematic, as the Cossacks originated in Ukraine and are more closely tied to Ukrainian history than to Muscovy.
I urge you to consider these points and make a decision that promotes respect for cultures and democratic values.
But the source code for Civilization 4 and 5 was released for some reason.
