In between study-related delays and SUMMER, I've been steadily porting the mod to the new fork of Skulltag, Zandronum. The source port is still in alpha testing, but an initial release is nearing, so in the meantime, I'm stuck fixing bugs and adding minor features because I can't really start working on the major things before I have a full source port to work with. The project isn't dead, it's just progressing slowly until I have the framework I need to implement the more critical features.

I'll be doing a May progress update later this month, but for now, have a sample of the custom soundtrack I've been working on.

There's been some silence recently, since I've been busy with other stuff, but development is chugging along at a nice, steady rate.

The map is still being designed, but the main station is basically complete. Mining station and derelict are being sketched out, and I'm considering whether I should add the prison station or not.

Most of the basic player systems such as injuries, consciousness, and other related things are also implemented, albeit still on a basic level. I'll be fleshing out the details further along the line.

Skulltag recently went open source, so it might recieve some new updates to the latest ZDoom codebase soon. This allows for better multiplayer support, more advanced scripting, and all sorts of other nice stuff.

I'm going to be working on custom monsters for the time being, as well as the various weapons, items, and world objects. Any suggestions go here for now, until the blog is up.

Fun fact; The exact amount of selectable jobs corresponds to the Doom player limit of 32, which means one of each job.

First things first - DS13 is a remake, not a port. If you expect -fully- destructible environments, ridiculously accurate chemistry, and some other awfully complicated things, don't be surprised if they're not in this; at least, from the beginning. I'm trying to fit as much of Space Station 13's gameplay into this as I can, but there's always going to be a fundamental difference between a tile-based engine and a 2.5D/3D engine.

That being said, I'd appreciate it if people could post some of their thoughts on how they like to play Doom, SS13, or both. Whether you prefer combat or exploration/puzzles, open spaces or claustrophobia, what gamemodes you prefer (Co-op/Deathmatch, Traitor/Nuke/Extended), things like that. I'm aiming to create a list of features I know can be implemented in a first release, so I have something to work towards rather than trying to aimlessly throw together bits and pieces from the original game and end up with an incoherent mess.

It doesn't matter if you've only played one of the games; any input is welcome. I've been toying with some original ideas as well, so it'd be fun to see what people are looking for in a mod/game.
