I have been running a weekly game for awhile now, and we had two people no show for the big dungeon. I will probably be replacing them after this session with someone.

The realm is in its 1000th year of unending winter. The famine has grown to its extremes and there is no hope of the chilling winds halting. There has been tales of the old world, where sunshine and warmth can be felt yearly. Where children play in meadows and vast plains of vegetation grows for leagues. This realm is called Dorne, surrounded by mountains to the north where the unaffected dwarfs have made great wealth from selling underground crops to the starving land dwellers. Great frozen oceans to the south known to freeze any man in days, legends say if you stare into the sky clear waters, the ocean stares back. Crystalline forests to the east, where any mortal that comes near are lured in by visions and haunting laughter. Many Commonwealth residents speculate the elves have conjured up a great faye magic that protects them from the howling chill. To the west there is nothing but death, orcs, trolls, and giants who survive from the constant tribal and territorial wars beset on the cursed land, known only as the Bone wastes.

The party finds themselves in the Commonwealth national capital city of Arhelm, a conclave for the cold and hungry, said to have been engineered and built by the great mountain dwelling dwarves. Great glaciers have peered over the edges of the round valley with an open mouth sky ceiling. The diameter of which stretches 50 miles. Great and powerful mages from times far past casted magic that guided the ice into a great dome, large enough to house a million souls. Creating a greenhouse that has for the last 1000 years been the only safety to the cold for humans and peaceful races. A million souls did at one time live in this beautiful city, but housing and food shortages have dwindled the numbers down to a measly 120,000. A bustling trade city in the middle of Dorne where with a quick wit and a resourceful mind, many a coin is made. The peasants barely survive at best, minding their business and praying never again to repeat the dark history that is still felt deep in the heart of Arhelm.
