The Crazy GFL - Minecraft server

The Minecraft server is currently offline, and there will possibly be datalose... the reason for this is, the host that hosts the Minecraft server had requested the datacenter take an unactive machine offline, but instead they took the machine offline which hosts the Minecraft server (and also the GFL BFF server - and other customer servers) - the people at fault here are the datacenter, I'd say.

There wasn't any off server backups, so it looks like the server will need to be setup from scratch, and a new world will possibly need to be generated. It isn't all that big of a deal, it's more of an annoyance that anything - especially for people that have worked hard on the server, and were still working hard on their projects.

As I said that the BFF server is also offline (or s8 - which is our numbering system for servers) I'd say that's a bigger issue to get back up, because there's the configuration, maps, sounds, models, materials, addons, plugins, and extensions which will all need to be uploaded, and then tested... which, can take awhile. It would also take awhile to test with the Minecraft server, but there isn't as much work to do.

This is the second time this has happened... I can only hope there won't be a third time, because this is annoying. Once everything is running normal again, backups will be automatically uploaded onto my fileserver, that way, atleast the server won't need to be configured again, and it won't need a new world generated (assuming they can't get the data back, hopefully they can - but we'll see)

To quote, here is the message from the host:
"We apologize about this, but it seems that the London Data Center canceled the wrong box, which hosts your game servers.

We have a ticket open with them to recover the box that they canceled, and are waiting on a response from them to see if we can get it back up.

We had an extra server in London that was not being used and put in a request to cancel it, and the data center canceled the one we were using instead.

We will compensate for downtime once we figure out if the box and/or files are recoverable."

Hopefully everything can be fixed soon... although, there could possibly also be an IP address change, depending on whether or not the current IP address has already been reassigned to another customer of the datacenter (because the datacenter canceled the wrong box, and thus also the IPs for that machine)
