Experimenting with Discord

If you don't have it, it basically gives you a Teamspeak-style VOIP server along with text-based chat (similar to IRC) and shoutbox functionality. So one app basically would handle how most of us already communicate.

It also has a in-game overlay feature along with automatically showing your friends what game you're playing, similar to how Steam does it.

It runs on Windows & Mac, Android & iOS, and within any modern browser (requiring no download at all!). Linux support coming soon for the handful of people who use it.

Keep in mind that your username doesn't have to be unique either, since it also assigns you a # that goes after your name for people to find you with. So if you have a super-common name you like to use but you have been stuck adding #'s and ♥♥♥♥ after it on other services... fear not, you can use it here without ever being told that your username is taken.
