Wow, I guess that makes you super-unlucky and super-lucky at the same time. No walk in the park I'm sure. All the best for the further treatment. Enjoying the UK, main reason was to change up our high school options and get closer to cultural and historical destinations (we try and get away most holidays). Living in a small village in North Yorkshire (pop. 500) and working as a contract developer. It's pretty nice (I can see cows from my desk).

Hey Trezz, how're you keeping? Not really playing anything these days, bit busy. Moved to the UK.

While waiting for my Day Z download to finish I've just fired up a TS3 server again, please feel free to use;

Address: ts3.anzins.tk (or if that doesn't work; teamspeak.ionwerks.net)
Password: apple (or none)

If anyone were interested in trying Iron Front in A3, I've just seen GamersGate have it on sale with the D-Day expansion for US$3.75 right now.
Foggy 2 Jan, 2014 @ 12:59am
fair enough, I have been fairly similar. Not playing many games at all now, struggling to find the time and anything I do try just feels like the same thing as everything else that is currently avaliable.

To answer your question, I'm reluctant to spring for INS2, I've tried it several times and always found it a let down.
Defunkt 29 Dec, 2013 @ 12:13pm
Honestly I'm just about a non-gamer these days, a few rounds of Battlefield is all I can muster interest in. Looking forward to Star Citizen of course, will probably pick up Day Z at some stage. Most recent thing on my radar is Iron Front: Liberation which kju has now got working in the ArmA 3 engine (which can do WW2 better than it could ever do modern day warfare). The assets are of a very high quality, coupled with A3 lighting it looks cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X71KQkoHqYA

So has anyone been getting into the Early Access Insurgency 2 on steam? I have been quite liking it and it feels similar to the old INS but still is quite different at the same time.

War Z certainly suffered a sustained hate campaign on Metacritic (and pretty much everywhere else) as gaming nerds all over claimed outrage that anybody had the temerity to copy DayZ (and claim they weren't copying - personally I don't care, such things happen all the time, ask Apple). Honestly it mostly looked to me like they were aquiver and flushed with the heady notion that by banding together they might actually influence something or someone other than their Mum.

I (being a person who can think & form opinions for himself) liked it. I found the visuals oddly pleasing and the environment straight out of The Walking Dead, gunplay was good and interaction with other player parties pretty interesting and extremely tense. One mechanic I particularly like is the safe zones (fortified settlements) where you can stash loot in your global inventory so if you get sniped by some camper in a bush one expedition you haven't necessarily lost everything (same sort of appeal as LTI in SC).

Somebody's ported DayZ to ArmA3 (http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/07/25/dayz-arma-3-the-reason-you-should-play-the-dayz-mod-again/) but you'll still face spastic zig-zagging Z's while wrestling with turgid multiplayer framerates.
Cellus 25 Jul, 2013 @ 6:55pm
Looks good: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/infestation-survivor-stories

Anything to recommend it over DayZ, which is presumably available on ArmA III?
Defunkt 25 Jul, 2013 @ 4:40pm
Cellus and I have been closely watching Star Citizen recently and both of us (along with Stickman & Foggy) have secured starting ships of assorted types. It all looks pretty amazing (Space Dogfighting & Trading/Exploration MMO w. First-Person Shooter on Cry Engine 3) and I expect I'll be playing its various incremental releases a lot.

I'm also going to suggest another look at Infestation: Survivor Stories (aka the infamous War Z) when its California map releases. Ignoring the Internet nerd-rage bandwagon, I thought it offered some truly memorable gameplay & atmosphere. Some of the firefights were as good as I've experienced in any game. It now requires punkbuster and if the hacking has diminished and they've refined the Z'eds and loot spawns I'm again very interested.

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well. Sad to hear that ANZINS.net lapsed, but big thanks to Defunkt for all the work over the years. I'm sure we all have some really good memories.

You never know, maybe our ever ellusive "Game X" is just around the corner hehe :P

Kind of. Went travelling, hit Cambodia, haven't managed to get out yet. HTPC is like watching movies or something? I'll be hitting Insurgency (they've dropped the '2') when it hits beta, same with Arma 3 (both public). I suppose I'll see you guys then. Shame ANZINS.net isn't up so I could keep going and posting drunken rants without people getting too upset like the real interwebs...
Defunkt 2 Jun, 2013 @ 3:03pm
They let you out of the mines then?
Defunkt 2 Jun, 2013 @ 3:02pm
Howdy guy. No, let it lapse after six months as I was never on. Just don't seem to be all that into games at the moment (current hobby is my HTPC/Media Collection) and a few rounds of BF3 most days is enough. ArmA 3 is looking really great but, same old, I just don't have much faith in sustainable multiplayer.
Cellus 31 May, 2013 @ 10:57am
Still have a TS?
Defunkt 19 Oct, 2012 @ 4:43pm
Well as I haven't given up games altogether and me, Stick and Foggy are planning on playing a little War Z and maybe Chivalry soon I've secured a small TS server for the next 6 months. Please use as and when you need: ts78.light-speed.com:6510
KILLER 14 Oct, 2012 @ 8:49pm
good times indeed. thanks for all the time/effort defunkt..kinda sad that it ended this way. ins2 maybe?
Defunkt 12 Oct, 2012 @ 2:44pm
Well honestly I just didn't see a whole lot of point in continuing, it seemed to me participation and interest had sunk below a point of no return. Many good times were had but nothing lasts forever.
Trooper-N1004307 12 Oct, 2012 @ 2:24am
So whats up with anzins.net and the TS? If it's in need of help let me know.
