Story Mode: The story mode is like a soap opera with uppercuts. Expect drama, betrayal, and a surprising amount of heart (both figuratively and literally).
Cons:
Grinding Gear: Unlocking all the gear can feel like a second job. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to work in a sweatshop, this is your game.
Microtransactions: The game has more microtransactions than a mobile game on steroids. Prepare to shell out if you want that shiny new Scorpion skin.
Kryptic Krypt: The Krypt is a fun idea, but it’s about as easy to navigate as a maze designed by a sadistic hamster.

Sufficiently fun to kill some time and play with another person. Great visuals, sounds, smooth gameplay. However, not very suitable for casual players as the controls are pretty complicated and that kills some of the enthusiasm. Story is weird and boring, probably because I know nothing about MK's lore.

I played all the old MK games up to MK4 since the 90s. I only bought this for cheap now to have a simple fighting game for the deck.

Turns out this simple fighting game requires 120 GB of space, more than virtually any other game in my library, except RDR2 and maybe 1 or 2 others...

Still in the process of playing the tutorials, I'm already turned off. The controls are totally overloaded. "Perform your special spear throw with combo 1. Then charge your special with the right bumper. Then perform combo 2 before the enemy recovers". The combos are arbitrary and unintuitive, as are basically most of the attacks. In the end most people probably just spam random buttons and somehow succeed with it...

In the classic MK games controls were much clearer and not that overloaded. The pace was also slower. Devs must be thinking that more is always better. Well, it's not.

The violence in the classic MKs was also more of a comedic thing, being as cartoony and unrealistic as it was. When a fighter exploded, you could see multiple ribcages jumping all over the place and stuff like that. Here it just feels like I must be some sort of redneck simpleton to be entertained by over-the-top realistic-looking ultra violence with the cinematic camera movement always giving you the best view at the disgusting stuff. In fact, I'm not. It's kinda stupid.

It might be frustrating at first but once you get it (Its pretty easy to learn moves), its easy to have fun.
