Wonderfull game : best of all a long serie of RTS i played.
Best of all the saga too, i never understood why they tried to launch an other supreme commander after that which was a fail in comparison. The real son of TOTAL ANNIHILATION.
At 2025 multi doesnt live and solo is rather of limited interest. So now something that marked History

Short but sweet campaign with 3 playable factions, or technically 4 but not fully...

All 3 factions in the campaign get fun stufff to use as the story progresses.

4 tiers of units and buildings, low tier (1), mid tier(2), high tier(3) and experimental tier, each one has their strengths and weaknesses, higher tier does not necessarily mean higher quality though, sometimes quantity and proper useage means more.

Here I will list what I've learned about the 4 factions, such as their biggest strengths (that I know of, mind you), and some of their weaknesses from my own experience using them:

Cybran: Fast, stealthy and with high potential damage, but, most of their early units and buildings are made of paper, has engineering station to compensate somewhat, weak artillery but shoots fast.

UEF: High health and is your typical all-rounder faction for beginners, has engineering station, has the biggest artillery in the game and orbital lasers in the late game.

Aeon: Lots of shields even if they are smaller than the shields of the other factions, has no engineering station, has lots of hover units, strong navy and air force, strong artillery, can get infinite resources in the late game.

Seraphim: Basically a mix of all the other factions but slightly worse at everything, has long range weapons, has no engineering station, specializes in air and navy with their ground units being their last resort except for their experimental land bot.

(Enginerring stations help build, repair and upgrade everything in their radius, factions with them have a huge advantage and it is recommended to capture a Cybran or UEF builder ASAP if you play as the Aeon or seraphim.)

The seraphim is only fully usable in skirmish and multiplayer, or, if you capture one of their builders/factories in the campaign.

Native mod support, all mods are easy to get and install, wether it be from nexusmods or from moddb.

Works fine on windows 10 with no issues.

Has a pop cap, can be modified with mods, I use one that gives me effectively infinite units, this is basically required for me to play the game since buildings count towards the cap on top of the pop cap usage from combat/builder units, the cap starts at 500 in the campaign and gradually increases the further you progress up to a max of 1000.

Only 2 resources to manage, mass and energy, build energy first since you can't get mass without it, your energy is you lifeblood so always have A LOT OF IT, mass is used for building and energy is used to get mass, pretty simple.

Shields are crucial to your survival, all shields, except the Aeon ones, can be upgraded, DO IT.

Adjacency bonuses are important, always build generators next to factories or something else that needs energy, these bonuses stack, such as making artillery reload and shoot faster, making factories build faster and making units cost less when being built, stuff like that can be really important in mid-late game.

Anti-Air is your friend, build lots of it when going against AI, same goes for tactical missile defense.

Shields stack and overlap, this can save you when you least expect it, such as from a nuke... or even two...

Stealth is useless against tech 3 radars and sonars, so abuse stealth as early as you can while it still does something.

Build storage, no, I am not kidding, storage has saved me multiple times from losing he game, simply because I had a lot in the bank, so to speak.

That is about it, go, get the game and try it out, maybe you will like it, who knows?

A lot of my time was actually playing Supreme Commander on the 360.

Throwing waves of robots at another army of robots is just good fun. The Campaign works nicely to establish the setting and teach you how the game works. Misses some elements of the economy; as it wants you to rush your early objectives but have a massive economy. Striking a balance is important for MP, but haven't got that much time with the MP on PC.

Skirmish is fun and there's a lot you can do fighting the AI, or with some custom rules with friends. FFA with temporary alliances and nukes should generate some good narratives.

Very fun. Scratches that strategy itch in a way nothing else can
