how to do Cao Cao Heads south in story mode to get to Road To Red Cliffs and Oath of Guan Yu?

Hello guys! A newbie here in need of a little guidance. In the Special Daily Quest description there's a part that seems to suggest that the crafting permits being rewarded by the quests can be used to promote commanders. I can't seem to find how and where to do that though. If someone could please kindly point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Also there's a Feat for linking your account to Google/Facebook/Twitter. Where do I that too? Thanks a lot! :) ...
