While we are now going on a small Christmas and New Year break, work continues immediately next year. There's a new patch we've been working on, which fixes many of the bug reports since the last patch, as well as some older persistent issues. We hope to add a couple of small improvements as well.

Hi! It's once again time to bring you and update to MindSeize. This time we've focused on fixing some issues both big and small, that have plagued the game for a long time. The patch also brings updates to several bosses.

Here's the (mostly) full change list.


Boss balance:

• Drifter Hanu will start his second phase a bit earlier now
  
• Annihilator Unit has a much faster turn animation and starts its final barrage attack earlier than before. Added a new homing missile attack for it. Lowered the HP a bit.
  
• You can now destroy the boomerang grenades of Duke Atlas with a melee attack. They are now faster and do more damage. Duke Atlas should never be locked to a wrong animation when starting his run anymore.
  
• Added an earlier unimplemented special attack for the Phantom Parasite
  
• The Assassin now has a projectile attack, improved the calculation of his dash lengths
  
• Added a tell to the hand shake animation of Mimir. Removed the teleporting shield-carrying Defender from the fight, increased the damage of his flamer drones.
  
• Balanced the difficulty level of the Boss Rush a bit

other stuff:

• Changed the geometry and/or enemy placement of several rooms, fixing multiple awkward wall jump spots, etc.
  
• Fixed a bug that could sometimes cause the Muckroot Beast enemies to launch upwards to the sky when fighting on a slope
  
• Fixed a bug that could cause Thyr to freeze when fighting him in Boss Rush
  
• Improved the Scrap Magnet
  
• Added more oomph to the destruction of scrap containers and to the scrap collection sfx
  
• Made it impossible to shoot during certain cutscenes
  
• Triggering the elevators of Horizon Ship now works more consistently
  
• Gave Guardian Units more hp and improved their turn speed
  
• Turrets on Takomo 7 now award scrap for destruction
  
• Tweeked the backend for the controller support. Hopefully this will help with the issues a few of you are still experiencing.
  
• And a couple of other small bugfixes as always

Note about the controller tweaks:
We have not been able to replicate the issues described to us and every controller works fine in the tests, which makes finding the root of the issues incredibly difficult for me (as of writing this, I'm the only programmer working on the game anymore). I'm now trying a different method for detecting the inputs, let's see if it will help at all... Once again, if you are having controller issues even after the patch, I would ask you to go to the Steam General Controller Settings and uncheck every "Configuration Support" box. You should also turn on the "Controller Only Movement" from the in-game Options menu. Hoping for these to help!

Also, if some of you start having NEW controller issues that you did not have before this update, please let us know!

Heyo!

Just bringing you another update to MindSeize, with the following fixes and additions:

• Improved jumping to a moving platform when hanging on the ledge.
  
• Added a couple of missing sound effects, most notably for the Jetpacker Unit
  
• Improved the player damage numbers when dealing with spikes
  
• Slightly tweaked the damage of several enemies on Orbei
  
• Grenadier Units no longer do the stationary moonwalk they used to sometimes
  
• Improvements and proof reading to a couple of Log entries, the Gasfly got its gas bubbles now!
  
• Added a small life regeneration to one attack of the final boss
  
• Improved the tentacle door placement on one room on Orbei, making it easier to open

MindSeize has been updated to the version 1.4.5.

The patch includes a plethora of improvements, some of which have been requested for quite some time. There's also a number of bugfixes, as always. Full notes below:

Changes and improvements:

• You can now unequip (and re-equip) mods and powerups.
  
• One additional hidden nanobot container added.
  
• It's now possible to turn on player damage numbers from the Options, helping you keep track of taken damage
  
• Improved the visibility of some smaller enemy projectiles, especially of the first Ascended boss and on the second planet
  
• Improved the Spider Grip, giving the player much more control when clinging on walls
  
• Improvements to the Scrap Magnet speed and reliability
  
• Additional sound effects to menus and the UI

Bugfixes:

• Fixed the lightning sometimes appearing on wrong layer on Takomo 7
  
• Fixed the map showing wrong coordinates when trying to travel after checking a map of another planet
  
• Squeaky Gnawers should not make occasional gigantic jumps anymore...
  
• The screen no longer goes to the cutscene mode when entering some of the boss rooms after having killed the boss
  
• Fixes to the Stranger's dash
  
• Various other bugfixes;)

Aaand that's all for now. We are also working on localizations, they could find their way to Steam eventually. Please let us know if you find some bugs or other issues, feedback is also still wanted and appreciated!:)

MindSeize has been just updated to version 1.4.0.

The main thing we wanted to address with the update is the recent controller problems reported by some of the players. There is now a "Controller Input Only Mode", that can be turned on from the Options menu. We've also tried to improve the controller support on the code side.

If the update or turning on the Controller Only mode will not help with your issues, please try to first unplug and replug the controller, then report to us. These fixes are in many ways experimental, so all the input and feedback from you will help us find solutions.

In addition, the patch improves the late game viability of the first gun, buffs the Scrap Magnet and Arc-Power Beam.

There's of course also a huge list of bugfixes. Here's a (not entirely complete) changelog:

• Added a "Controller Only Mode" that can be turned on from Options
  
• Changing the keybindings will now correctly change the keys also on the HUD and in UI PopUps (There's currently a small known issue with jump key not updating correctly in the tutorial, will be fixed soon)
  
• Fixed most of the cases that could cause the player to get stuck and not able to move. Probably.
  
• Fixed the sound effect and music volume settings not always getting saved correctly
  
• Fixed Mimir's hands not always disappearing when he dies
  
• Fixed the speed boost from the Desperation Engines staying even after the player health is restored
  
• Fixed ”the invisible grenade-blocking obstacles” sometimes appearing on Takomo 7. Turns out they were dead spider creatures whose invisible dead corpses still blocked grenades for some reason
  
• Fixed the layers in the room before Duke Atlas, screen shake will no longer mess up with the backgrounds
  
• U1-M4 Gear pickup should now be bit smoother.
  
• Re-spawning enemies are no longer invincible when attacked with flamer or the flame dash
  
• Removed a box that could cause issues with the Box Carrying Drones. The drones also now behave better when their boxes are destroyed before they manage to grab them.
  
• Fixed a couple of spots on walls of Icy Moon having small, invisible platforms
  
• Scrap Magnet now picks all the drops from enemies, including health and energy
  
• The Enhanced Ammo Feed mod now boosts the bullet rate of the first weapon much more, making the rate of fire 50% faster than it used to be
  
• Boosted the damage rate of the Arc-Power beam weapon from every 0,5 seconds to every 0,4 seconds. The secondary damage spreads 20% further than it used to.

Hi everyone, we have a couple of topics to discuss briefly.

First, the Steam Awards are here. If you like MindSeize, some neat nominations we really think could fit the game well are for example the Outstanding Visual Style and especially the Best Game You Suck At Award. We'd also go as far as call the game a labor of love;) May the best games win!

Also wanted to mention, that MindSeize is now available for 55% off, grab it if you didn't yet.

We've gotten a bunch of cool new Steam reviews again lately, thank you everyone of you who bothered to write one! They really help the game and more are always welcomed! :)

And last but not least, there should be an update coming shortly, but we don't want to give it a date just yet. More bug fixes and a couple of other improvements on the horizon!

MindSeize has been updated to version 1.3.2.

The update brings a couple of improvements and some bugfixes.

• Scrap Magnet is now a bit cheaper and a bit more effective
  
• The shield will recharge a bit faster under heavy enemy presence and while taking hits
  
• Added 2 small shortcuts to the Verdant Gamma caves section and small changes to the geometry of some rooms
  
• The Stranger should not freeze anymore. Ever. Hopefully... Ah and fixed a rare bug with Illuminator Drone as well
  
• Using Power Void on a wall will no longer freeze the player under any circumstances. In fact it can't be done!
  
• Increased the contrast of the Thorn Horn root attack (and the monster itself)
  
• Added a check to a certain radio conversation after beating planet Orbei. Won't happen anymore in case the player manages to sequence break;)
  
• Made the Dash Kick Boots tiny bit easier to find...
  
• Fixed one Guardian Unit behaving very, very badly. BAD Guardian Unit!
  
• There was an exploit allowing the player to easily farm scrap. Huge amounts of scrap. INFINITE amounts of scrap. It also froze the game if the amounts got too crazy, so yea... Fixed now!
  
• Improved 2 screen transitions (one on Takomo and one on Research Facility. No you'll be able to jump into new room without problems!

Aaand that's all. There might have been a couple of other fixes as well, but honestly there's too many to remember everything. Thanks for the support!

Hi!

We just updated MindSeize with a small hotfix.

Prior to the patch, if the player had both the Dash Kick Boots and the Shadow Dash, it was possible to get stuck to enemies for a second if trying to dash through them while not having enough energy to perform a shadow dash (10).

That should not happen anymore after the hotfix.

We just released a small patch to MindSeize, bringing the game to version 1.3.1

Here's changelog:

• Made the area containing the secondary elevator to Takomo Rooftops more memorable
  
• Increased the attack speed of Jet Spear
  
• Fixed a recently surfaced bug that would cause your drone to freeze if killing Thyr's drone while hacking it
  
• Fixed some enemies and Frederik's dog sometimes getting stuck in turn animation loop, especially when near a ledge
