I would like to play the game, but iam not buying a dead game. Why not turn it into a ftp game with buyable skins, backgrounds, tile sets and whatever. Iam wondering that they gave up so quick on their title.

Don't think your question of "Free to play when?" is a good idea. If you want the game to be playable via f2p, but aren't willing to invest, and if you are representative of everyone?
