I have never written a game review. I think the highest complement I can pay Unity of Command 2 is that, even after roughly 300 hours, it still makes me feel the drama as the Red Army surges forward with unseen tank reserves to grind one hex closer to cutting the critical supply line to a town you've never heard of.

Unity of Command II  is a hex-based, turn-based, war game set during World War 2. The game has a puzzle element to it which isn't as common in the genre. Because you are fighting the turn timer for victory, you have to figure out how to crack this puzzle in the allotted turns by moving units in the correct order. It's not as free form as Panzer Corps 2 but it's still fun,

• Continuity
  When you play the campaign, even though the playable area is smaller than the map you can see where you are going and where you have been. This continuity is nice for immersion.
  
• Supplies
  Some other games in the genre also have a supply system but this game takes it a step further and more importantly makes it clear visually.
  
• Presentation
  The game has a very clean presentation with a nicely designed UI.

• Unit Roster
  The unit roster isn't as large as others in the genre. This is by design, but I do miss nerding out over all the units other games have. But the system does have advantages for immersion because instead of a single units, the units in this game are comprised of multiple units working in cohesion. For example, here you may have a Ranger unit with an attached Armor Unit, which gives the feeling of your units working cooperatively together like they would in real life. In other games in the genre these would just be two independent units.

  Has a ton of different theatres including the Pacific, but poor graphics and UI.

  Huge unit roster, map selection, and amazing presentation.

I'm not a boardgame wargamer type. Those maps with tons of hexxes and units make me run.

This game is fun. Can conquer North Africa in an hour. There's some community vids that explain the mechanics well, watch those.

Looks good, sounds goods, plays fun.
