Hello everyone,

We are happy to announce the release of the major Critadel update that we revealed last month!

As we mentioned in the previous post, this update will add features and fixes that can enhance your gameplay experience in general.

The new update adds the following features:
- Weapon slot configuration
- Key rebinding
- Item descriptions
- Weapon auto-swap
- Improved weapon list UI
- New weapon change hotkey for controllers (default: LT(L2)+RS)

We also implemented small balancings and fixes:
- Changed the color of the bubbles from the slime-like enemies to red for better visibility
- Increased the amount of experience points earned from Hard Mode (50% more than Normal Mode)
- Adjusted the trigger requirement of the third option for Ancient Storage Box (from "200 MAX HP decrease" to "100 MAX HP decrease")
- The disposer machine at Eve's shop will now dispense bigger crystals when you dispose of items ranked "A" or "S"
- Changed how players can move to the next room after defeating Longinus and Noah Fortress (players must now interact with the portal)
- Adjusted locations of light bulbs for some stages

That should be it for this update! We hope these changes will make Critadel even more fun to play for you!

It's already been almost a month since we posted the last update. For today, we would like to share some sneak-peek on some of the upcoming Quality of Life updates. We are working hard to get these right!

Bug Fixes
- Fixed the 3 “Master Rank 1” achievements. If you already have characters that have reached Master Rank 1, you will be able to obtain it when you enter your save data with the characters.
- Fixed the bug that caused a crash when you get “Weapon Upgrade” prize from Petro while you have fully upgraded default weapon in your inventory.
- Now you can upgrade your default weapon at “Sanctum of Blessing” when you have “Gun Mode” skill equipped

Hello everyone!

It’s already been a month since Critadel was released. Thank you so much for all your support! We are sincerely happy to see everyone enjoying the game we worked so hard to create.

For the past few weeks, we’ve been pushing out patches for fixing bugs, re-balancing and quality-of-life improvements that needed our immediate attention. We'll keep an eye out for any additional bugs and fix them as soon as we can.

We are also working on bigger updates that will bring even greater QoL improvements based on your feedback, as well as a content update! Here's what we have planned so far:

New Upcoming Features:
- Weapon Slot Configuration: You won’t have to drop your weapons to change their slot order!
- Key Rebinding: New options for both keyboard/mouse and controllers
- Item Descriptions: Pop-ups to identify items on the ground
- Weapon Auto-Swap: When your current weapon’s durability becomes 0, your character will switch to another available weapon in the next slot
- Weapon List UI: The weapon scroll list UI on the right side of the screen will be transparent for better gameplay visibility.


New Contents:
- New Weapons / Attachments / Artifacts / Companions!
- Additional contents for Hard Mode

There are smaller improvements planned, too. We'll share more information about this update as we make more progress.

Bugs Fixed:
- Fixed a bug which caused some items unlocked by Golden Core to be unobtainable.
- Fixed Domingo not being able to receive the buff from Alice's Shotgun Upgrade skill.
- Fixed a bug that removed any cores from an inventory when a player used Purification at Holy Grail Hall.
- Now you can resize the window size.
- Fixed some typos and mistranslations for in-game Japanese texts.

Added Features:
- Added "Lock a cursor within window" option. Now you can choose to lock a mouse cursor to the game window while in windowed mode and using keyboard & mouse.
- Added Steam Screenshot feature (F12 on keyboard)

Re-balancing
- Changed a mechanic on Lilith: Now her bubbles will not protect her and won't cause her to be knocked out when destroyed.
- Fist Guardian: Removed the invincible barriers from his fists. Now only his torso is a hittable target.
- Decreased all bosses' health pool.
- Changed a damage values on some weapons. Many A-Ranked weapons that were underperforming have been buffed.
- Increased durability by 500 on all weapons.
- Decreased freeze effect time.
- Now a character won't get a damage from falling after clearing a room.

Bug fixes
- Fixed typos on English and Korean texts.
- Fixed text overflow issues

Bug fixes
- Fixed Machine Leg effect bug which never disappeared from the screen.
- Fixed weapons that weren’t getting an effect of glancing blows properly (ex: Incisor, Heat Index)
- Fixed a bug which a player could get stuck behind a closed door or a wall.
- Fixed a bug which a player could get a damage from remaining projectiles that a boss shot even after the boss is defeated.
- Fixed a crash that was caused by obtaining Golden Frog.

Changes
- Added a new repair kit which repairs all weapons in your inventory. It will only spawn with low-chance after defeating a boss. It does not spawn at regular rooms.
- Adjusted some weapon stats and their upgrade efficiency.
- Adjusted some stats of synergy effects.
- Adjusted some of the bosses’ health and damage.
- Changed some of the attack patterns of Duke. He will now only blocks attacks from his front when his shield is raised. His invincible barrier has been removed.
- Changed a behavior of projectiles from a player so that destructible objects (crates, weapon stands, light bulbs etc.) won’t block the projectiles. The barricades and bunkers still block projectiles.

Hello everyone, we hope you had some fun with Critadel’s Steam Next Fest demo!

It's been a while since we posted fun stuffs about Critadel. Since the release date is tomorrow (yes, only one day left!), we would like to cover probably one of the most important aspects of the game before you start to play it.


Characters

In Critadel, there are three unique characters you can play. If you played the Steam Next Fest demo, you had a chance to play as Nox. In the full version of the game, you'll be able to unlock two more characters by spending 10 soul orbs for each. Let’s go over them and see what they’ve got.


Nox - Fearless Fighter

Nox is a member of the resistance against the Order of Noah. She came to the Tower of Babel to search and destroy the source of the evil cult's power.

She starts her journey with her Crewgun and Red Scarf.
The Crewgun is a very reliable weapon with a high rate of fire. As you can see from the description above, the weapon is both "normal" and "rifle" type. This means that you'll have a bit of an easier time fulfilling the normal and rifle type synergies, since you start with both types with this weapon.

The Red Scarf gives a +40 boost to your Maximum SP (Stamina Point), which is used when your character dodge-rolls. This allows Nox to perform one more consecutive dodge roll than other characters can from the start.

Based on this equipment, we can see that Nox is mainly focused on high SP and Normal or Rifle type weapons. Her multiple weapon types and extra dodge roll will allow you to build her up to be an agile fighter with constant damage output based on high rate of fire.


Alice - Combat Android

Alice is a combat android made by an ancient civilization - the same one that also built the Tower of Babel. She is programmed to guard the tower from invaders.

Alice’s starting items are a Pulse Shotgun and the Pulse Core.
The Pulse Shotgun, as the name suggests, has a short range but shoots several energy pellets on a single trigger, resulting in high damage output. It has shotgun/energy type, so finding other weapons with those synergies will make your run a bit easier.

Pulse Core grants Alice a single shield point. In Critadel, shield can negate incoming damage regardless of how powerful the enemy's attack is. But as soon as it blocks a single attack, it disappears and can be only charged when you move to the next room (under normal circumstances).

If you like fast-paced combat with enemies up close and personal, Alice will be a good choice. Her focus on shotgun and energy types will help you fulfill synergies that grant higher damage multipliers, while her shield focus will make you play her in a different way from other characters.


Ahnushu - Force of Nature

Ahnushu is a warrior from the nature-worshipping cult called "Oracle." He came to the tower seeking the ancient knowledge that the Order of Noah is said to possess.

Ahnushu starts with his Natura weapon and Symbol of Oracle.
Natura is a nature/charge type weapon with high alpha damage. Yes, it takes time to charge it up... but the damage from a single projectile is several times higher than other characters’ weapons!

Symbol of Oracle gives Ahnushu a +20 max AP (Ammunition Point) boost. This allows him to use his weapons longer without reloading them to recharge AP.

These starting items make Ahnushu more suitable for players who like to distance themselves from enemies and shoot them down before they get too close. Think of him as a sniper! If you can earn enough upgrades to his weapon stats, he'll be a "one-shot, one-kill" character.


Character Skills

In Critadel, each character has their own set of skills they can use to maximize their potential. As you start to gain experience points from your runs, your characters will level up and new skills will be unlocked. You can equip up to five skills to customize your character; the first one never changes, nor can it be unequipped!

After you start to unlock new character skills, you'll find that each character’s unique skills are very focused on enhancing their existing special abilities. This will surely affect your runs, so we strongly suggest that you try to figure it out on your own!
