I've been playing for a while, but I haven't found the option to change my party members to the subcharacters I'll receive throughout the game.

Ok, so i remember playing Agarest Generationts of War and that it took up to 20 minutes for even normal combat. Even chaning skills resulted in...well, pretty pathetic damage. So while the story was awesome and the combat system itself was fun, enemies had so much HP, it soon turned into a slugfest. Is this game different? Did i do something wrong in the first game? Also - should i have played prior games to understand the story, or is it like Final Fantasy?...

in replation to 1st / 2nd / zero is this like a 3rd game? how important is it to play earlier games for story? not sure if I should buy

I love rpgs, especially turn based ones. Good entry point? Also: Is this only available on Steam?
