Objective interpretation, hardware report, and total game progress

Warhammer 40,000 Mechanicus is a Isometric turn based tactical game. The game was ran on two different systems, which included an Intel 9900k/Nvidia 2080 super, and an Intel 13900k/Nvidia 4090. No system crashes occurred and no crashes to desktop noted. Three playthroughs were completed with DLC enabled and steam achievement perfection was attained.

Subjective interpretation

This was an intriguing gaming experience as it is set in a fictitious sci-fi fantasy universe that I absolutely adore. The flavor of the lore for this product was spot on; furthermore, this is supported by a compelling narrative and magnificent acoustical design. I admit bias in these regards; nevertheless, I will be critical of this product as it disappointed me in the actual game aspect. The graphics are simplistic and the identification icons are inanimate 2d illustrations. Nothing graphically remarkable about this game, even for the time period of release, but the art design works at projecting the actual art form that is being expressed. The game plays very well, and I did not encounter a single bug, however, even on the hardest of settings this game is quite trivial in difficulty. One who is an experienced gamer will find this game astoundingly easy, and this problem is compounded in magnitude by the significant length of a play through in this title. Damnation upon the length of this game! These two issues combine into a tedious slog that the player has to endure if they wish to complete the game. This was extremely boring and the game play failed to entertain me, although, the other aspects of the game fortified my will for this endeavor.

The story caught my interest as it was complex, multifaceted, logical, and emotive. It simply was intriguing and maintained my interest. The story was also supported by possibly the best audio I've ever experienced in a video game. The sound profile could be described as some sort of liturgical dub step. It fits the setting so well and influences my perception of the story. At times I was questioning the moral alignment of the faction the player must play as. I felt as if I was directing an antagonistic force. I was the bad guy in those moments. Such a profound acoustical influence transforms the narrative from something mundane into a distinctive curiosity; one in which I shall always cherish. I don't recommend buying this game at full price. 50% off or more would be a fair price point for this title at the current time of this review and be mindful that if you're a gameplay based gamer, and less holistic in appreciation; other titles in this genre will suit your preferences far better than this game.

Nice little game, clearly made with lots of love and respect to the source material. Writing is surprisingly good, not story-wise (it's just Admechs plundering a Necron tomb, what story can there possibly be anyway?), but each of the small cast of characters has different personality and their lines suit Admechs as a faction very well.
Battle mechanics are fairly simple yet addictive, somewhat close to Chimera Squad if Chimera Squad actually managed to be good. Tomb exploration is kinda meh, as are level-up mechanics, the paths feel like they were tacked on just because there had to be at least some variance. Sound design is good. Not out-of-this-world good, but good.
On the technical side I encountered little to no bugs, some UI elements stayed on the screen when they clearly shouldn't have, nothing major. All in all, definitely worth buying if you're into 40k or tactical RPGs. Maybe the curse of bad 40k games is finally lifting, praise the Omnissiah.

fun tactics based

Outstanding. It's clearly made by a relatively small team, but the gameplay loop is incredibly fun and the aesthetic is on point. The game becomes a bit repetitive in its late stages as you become quite powerful and don't have to think as hard about the moves your units make, but otherwise I have no issue recommending Mechanicus to anyone - especially 40k fans.

Fun characters and design, great atmosphere, easy-to-understand gameplay, a soundtrack WAY TOO GOOD for this game. Big fan.

Aside from the memes and music, which are great, I cannot recommend this game.

First issue is that it breaks down, for me basically every second mission I would have to hard restart my PC when it completely froze on a new turn of a fight. At least the bomb music continued I guess.

Secondly, gameplay wise it's a more static, simplyfied XCOM.
Missions: Less actual suprises, less tactics, less variety of missions and less momentum.
Progression: I am a sucker for making decisions, so I like base bulding and research. In this game you're collecting gear like lost pokemon cards on schoolgrounds cleanup duty.
