How does one add others to play on same laptop

Why do we have to use the keyboard to navigate in the menu? Why can't we change the controls? WASD and JKL for control is really bad. It is 2017 and everyone has a mouse. There is only one map with this annoying white thing in the middle that kills you when you touch it. It also has gravity and always pulls you into the middle. Bots are way better than me. I may suck but it is not fun for me when they are faster with a better aim than me. The modes are very similar. What keeps a player playing this game...
