Bendy is a vibe. It feels like a disgruntled Disney employee played BioShock and Outlast and said, “Yeah, I can do that.” There’s a clear influence from those games, especially in the aesthetic and world-building—but unfortunately, it never fully delivers on their strengths.

The old-school animation style is cool at first, but once you realize the game recycles the same assets repeatedly, the charm wears thin. The story’s pacing is uneven; each chapter feels like a drawn-out tutorial, wandering, waiting, and occasionally bonking a monster. The puzzles? Barely qualify. It feels like they were designed for a much younger audience… hopefully.

Gameplay isn’t exactly repetitive, but it’s not good either. None of the mechanics feel fleshed out. The ideas are there—they just never evolve. You’ll mostly be hiding in what I think is supposed to be a cartoon port-a-potty, waiting for the sluggish AI to forget you exist, even if they were just breathing down your neck. There’s no real tension or fear; getting caught has zero consequence, and the game quickly loses any sense of threat.

Boss fights are slow, boring, and require minimal thought. The actually messed-up Cartoon monsters? Criminally underused. Combat mostly involves popping balloon-like enemies, and you can literally see where they’ll spawn every time.

Still, there are some positives. The art direction is fun. The lore has real potential. And it’s short enough to not overstay its welcome. I’d recommend this as a first horror game—especially if you’re new to the genre and want to dip your toes in without getting overwhelmed. But if you’re a seasoned horror fan looking for challenge or true dread? Look elsewhere.
